Exactly. Whoever it is , we have to stick to the wage structure and budget. We had bankruptcy and points deductions... never want to go there again. I hope Ryan stays but he has to accept the wages we can offer

Not sure that a que would form for Ryans signature, and if they did would he be getting regular game time in the FB or SO positions. Someone at the club will probably know the outcome and Ryans intentions.
For me if he goes the club would be better off with an early indication so plans can be made. I think we have good cover at F B but would probably have to look to appoint a regular half back. Reynolds may fit well

I understand that we're in for Alex Walker from London, which would suggest Ryan is on his way.

We've been talking to him for a while as cover. MC said so on here.
Doesn't mean he hasn't signed but we are certainly talking to him with him not signing in mind.

I like Ryan - totally, I do & would like him to sign for us, however, wigan fans describe him as a journey man always seeking more, but that to me is on every players thoughts, but some care more than others considering balance in pay, regular first team & being happy at a club playing with life long friends rather than always chasing higher money choose what ever outcome. It is however his life to choose, we as a club need to move on, plan & consolidate rather than hold on too long & loose out on others availability !

By your own admission you like "Ryan" totally and would like him to re-sign for the club, presumably that's based on his performances for us, that being the case why would you prefer to listen to what fans from another club have to say about him, like yourself based on ignorance.

Think he's a very good player, versatile and obviously knows the club more than a new signing would. That said we don't have unlimited resources and i'm sure MC and co offered what they think was a fair deal. Walker looks a real talent so if he fits within the wage structure and Rocky doesn't then so be it.

Until arriving at BV, Hampshire had had 3 clubs in as many seasons Wigan, Leigh and Cas and at Trinity, he seems to fit really well and he's certainly popular with the fans.
Although we all have bills to pay and family etc to look after, it seems from the outside like a hell of a gamble to be moving again.
It would be a sham if he were to go but, a game of who blinks first will only see one winner here and the Club has to come first.

So if Hampshire leaves how does that make the club a winner?.

No, but it should make the players aware that there is a limit and that they have to be realistic with wages.

Ahh well, read a report that Ryan's management team have not talked to wakey after the offer was made with the dead line known. Doesn't look like any interest in pursuing by them or there could be other offers else where to his team ???

Presumably Ryan is at the club every day so its not hard to communicate with him. My feeling is that Ryan is the best UK player of his generation, he is the only player we have, and one of the very few in SL that creates opportunities out of nothing. He has blistering pace, he is an excellent defender, magnificent reader of the game. This quality of player does not come our way very often, Nigel Wright and Dave Topliss spring to mind. We have a gem on our hands, he is very very good now and will get even better. He should be the first name on the team sheet, he is the player the squad should be built around going forward. His signing is of paramount importance.

On the basis that the club always comes first, then yes. However, if Trinity have offered a reasonable contract, it also suggests that they want the player to be here next season.
But, only time will tell on who made the right decision.

As I said, Hampshire has always looked a "good fit" with Trinity but, how long should the club wait for ANY player.
Assuming that the deadline was reasonable in the first instance, if he hasn't signed, it infers that he'd rather look elsewhere than commit to Wakefield.
No payer is bigger then the club and taking into account there is a squad of 26/28 players to sort out, any serious delay can have a domino effect on other signings.

MC & Co must be well frustrated.

He`s not though is he? He is nowhere near based on what he has shown at this level, okay maybe if you had said the best Half/FB (Even then you are pushing it) but not the best player of his generation. Presumably you put him above the likes of John Bateman, Mark Percival, Tom Johnstone etc?

Really ? Best young player of his generation ? That being the case shouldn’t Leeds , Wigan saints all be making him an offer , to compare Hampshire to topliss and Nigel Wright I find quite bizarre , he’s a decent player with a bit of pace , he can’t run a game and at stand off has a bad habit of running his other backs out of the game and has a distinctly average kicking game , I hope he signs but am not that concerned if he doesn’t
