| We have and can play better, but it was just a run out.
I was sat in the main stand with Brian Smith and the subs just below me. One of the trainers had the headset and walkie talkie and was taking to someone, obviously not Brain Smith as he was stood 2 yards away. Brian smith did make some suggestions, but as i could not see Stuart Dickens i am guessing that Stuart (or a.n.other) was in the stand and in charge of the team/tactics while Brian just added a few insights here and there.

| They played with a lot better attitude in the second half which is what you are looking for in pre season friendlies, that is what was so disappointing about the first half, most of the players today will have to fight to get into the 17 against Widnes and I'd struggle to name one in the first 40 who put his name forward! I'm sure Brian told them this at half time, hence an improvement in attitude if not exactly technique in the second half...

| We did gift Fev the majority of their 1st half points. Fortunately they were unable to take advantage of similar gifts in the 2nd half. Thought Walton stood out for us and utilised his knowledge of playing against Championship opposition by matching Fev with equal effort and aggression.

Oh give over it's a friendly not an exibition match and means nothing - as ever you just love to be negative and create miscief.
You did noitice the pitch, the lack of halves and the use of 20+ players in varying positions - bares no resemblence to the 17 we'll play against Widnes
Also that sloped pitch makes any game a lottery when it's as wet as it was. The team thats going downhill has a huge advantage in the first 20 minutes and oddly it's always Fev.
Players got game time, no one injure, Hall and Tansey given a pop at H/B. Verdict one or other could do a job if needed but you wouldn't want them both - extra HB required.

| You can be unimaginative and shallow and give the fans a false a sense of superiority by bashing teams in pre season friendlies, or you can be smart and see what the rest of the squad has to offer, if injuries prevail?
Answers on a postcard.

Seriously, the slope isn't that big a deal. I did a check a couple of seasons ago and there were more points scored by home & away going uphill than downhill, and the slope has been levelled off to a degree since then. Now the hill at Batley, that's a different matter....

| Leeds Rhinos were well-beaten by the team who finished bottom by a long way last year in a recent friendly. That must mean they'll have a dreadful season and won't have a chance of winning anything.
If you get my drift .....

He had a couple of nice off loads but wasn't on long and was blowing a bit too. Worked hard enough while on.
Probably as much to do with the cold for him as fitness.
I reckon he'll be good but needs some game time.

Cheers! I suspect you are right regarding the cold and fitness, should hopefully come good with a few more games under his belt

| Definitely a game for our fitness yesterday - but some players did stand out for me.
Tinirau Arona - Impressed with him in both games. Looks likes hes going to be a good signing for the club. Strong, mobile and got a good passing game. Moving out to the edge to give the overlap for Tansey's try was a good passage of play.
Max Jowitt - Needs to build up his confidence and but hes got natural talent and speed and did well to back up Hall for the winning try and already looks like he could step up to be a regular player.
Jordan Crowther - Not sure if he came back on, but in the first half he was my MOM. His defence yesterday was brilliant and considering his age, he isn't scared to knock a few blokes about. Hopefully he will get some more game time this year.
