Quote: The Clan "I have grave reservations about Shaun McRae's ability as DoF and coach but I won't be all over the Hull board pouring acid on every thread.'"

Er, I've commented on two threads. And I haven't poured acid on any of them. I expressed a reasonable opinion based on four years of watching Agar's team. As regards McRae, he's coming as an actual bona fide DOR - he'll have no direct input to coaching matters whatsoever. With his contacts and personality, he's the ideal bloke for that job.
Quote: The Clan "Maybe SM will do well despite my misgivings and lets face it there's more evidence of SMs incompetence than there is for Agar, '"
Really? Wow. He won trophies at Saints, built a fantastic legacy (which has been subsequently destroyed) when he was at Hull, and did as well as anyone could have done with limited resources at Salford.
Quote: The Clan "and maybe Agar will be a success at Wakefield despite what you think.'"
Maybe. And maybe Avril Lavigne will be popping round to my house later for some nasty sex.

On the subject of Agar, despite what alot of my fellow one eyed Hull fans say, Agar has done alot of good at the club. Whilst im happy with us (hopefully) bringing in a top replacement I will be sad to see him go really. He was given a lot of grief that really wasnt deserved and I think at a club like Wakey where expectation isnt so high he could do really well.

9 comments so far each of them either denying or ignoring anything remotely positive about Rihard Agar, like I said, we get it you don't like or rate him.

He's never held the position of DoR before so what makes him Bona fide, you hope he won't have any direct input to coaching for Hull FCs sake so do I. What contacts, he's the subject of jokes amongst the NRL especially at South Sydney.

He benefited from the large playing budget available at Sts but most of all he claimed the credit for the fantastic youth development they had which was actually the work of Eric Hughes which produced the backbone of the team McRae took over. Eric Hughes had already begun bringing the young lads into the team so SM can't even claim that as an achievement.

What notable achievements did he make at Hull?
His win % was little better than 50% and he hardly left a team capable of great things when he moved on, all this despite having the benefit of merging two squads together and an influx of £1.25 Million some of which would have found it's way into his player budget.

You put great stock in what Hull FC fans are saying about Richard Agars departure, I suggest you visit the Salford board and canvass their opinion on Shaun McRae. Salford win ratio 25% again despite having John Wilkinson's money to build a squad.

The more I'm hearing about Agar the more I'm thinking he could maybe be the man for the job, he does seem strong on discipline and he does look like he has been hampered by the outgoing board somewhat, players say good things about him so who knows, still think he is dull as dishwater mind, we will not have the media presence we have had with JK in charge but if he gets the results on the field than we will get that anyway. Just wish they would get on with it now, the anticipation everyone was getting worked up about has long passed and is now getting tedious to say the least, think the have dropped a clanger in this side of things. Come on AG get on with it so we can all move on.

Can`t deny Agar is strong on discipline,he soon shunted a few of our deadwoods, and Tansey out.Look, not saying he is a bad bloke, but if you had seen some of his tactics over the last 4 seasons, you may have been baffled too.If he comes to you and is successful I for one wouldn`t begrudge him it.

On the subject of Manu,quality.

for me agar will not be a success and im a wakefield fan. hull have one of the best teams in superleague and continue to sign massive players every year and for them not to be competing for the title i think is down to agar. with a team like that hull should be one of the top dogs!

Did I miss the bit where Hull were challenging for the title every year and winning/getting to Grand Finals untill Agar came along and destroyed this trophy winning wonder team/club?

Back on topic - Manu is a quality player who would improve any SL team; he won't be improving ours though.

No,you just missed the last 4 years of soul destroying rugby.
(Still trying to figure what this has to do with Manu.))

That won't be anything new to us, in fact his tactics will probably make more sense than some of what we have witnessed recently.

He means that he's actually becoming/will function as a Director of Hull FC rather than just being a head coach with a different title. He has also specifically ruled out any aspect of coaching rather emphatically and on more than one occasion - starting before he was even appointed.

Why would we need to do that? We have first hand experience with Shaun McRea considering he was at hull for 5 years! Also there's no relevance to Salford as he was head coach there, and he is coming to us as director of rugby.
