We have taken some important steps today. All will become clear in due course.

| We need some decisions to be made or we will not be able to sell any season tickets and the club will have no income over the close season. Personally i think any move away from Belle Vue will see a slow death for the club unless it is accompanied by definite and believable news that there will be a return to the city.

| The best outcome, and the only one that gives the club a proper platform to build for the future, is to stay at BV pending a move into a brand new stadium; anything else is a fudge.

| I don't get real value from my season ticket and neither does my son because we cannot make 3 or 4 home games each year but we still buy 2 to support the club but i hope MC realises that a move to Dewsbury wull see me and many others just paying on the gate for the games we go to.

| I don't understand the change in attitude just over a possible temporary move to Dewsbury? If its in the best interests of the club why would you not continue as before to back the club? 200k is massive to us and could do a hell of a lot of good...
Its not as if Dewsbury is a million miles away...what is it, a ten minute car ride?
I could walk to Dewsbury ground in ten minutes from where I live but will be no better off as I pick me Dad up who lives in Wakefield...in such important times though, as a 'supporter' I will back the club 100%...

Doesn't it depend on what's on the horizon? I'm guessing that no one would have any quibbles with a temporary move to Dewsbury if there was definite news on Newmarket or a revamped Belle Vue (and by definite, I mean the diggers are moving in), as it would help strengthen the team prior to the return.
The problem with a move to Dewsbury with no news on the horizon is that it is no longer what you once had and why you loved it: a rugby club in your home city, representing your home city. It becomes nothing more than a limited company that has found a more profitable way to do things, and this involves doing it elsewhere.
This is all speculation anyway, because I'm sure we'll be at Belle Vue next year. This has been all sharp manoeuvring by Carter, to lever more money from the Bank of Ireland, and by the sounds of it there was stuff going on in the background at the same time. Of course, he can't come out and give a big wink, because then his bluff will have failed.

Like you, there is little difference to me going to Dewsbuty to watch Trin (compared with Belle Vue or Newmarket) but, it's not just the geographical location of the ground that we are talking about.
The club is in a situation at the moment where we should be looking forward into next season and due to many reasons, we don't know, where we will be playing or at what level we will be playing and it may be that SL survival will have a direct bearing on where we play.
Although one can understand MC's motives in looking elsewhere, indeed, there would appear to be little choice but, unless we can pull a bloody good rabbit out of the hat, supporter numbers are likely to take a fairly hefty hit and on the assumption that Dewsbury (or whoever else) wont let us use their ground for free, it could still cost more (in terms of net lost revenue) for the club to play elsewhere.
Also, until the ground issue is resolved. how can the club hope to sell season tickets for next season ?

| I would have thought M C s done his sums. Any move away from b v may result in a decline of numbers turning up but with a winning team gates may go up. I'm fully behind the club in this instance and hope for the best. Staying at B V would be my choice but I ain't got the choice. Dewsbury comes a poor second but if that's all that's left so be it.

That's about where I am too. I'd rather be staying at BelleVue but if the alternative is not having a team to watch at all then I'll go to Dewsbury (or wherever else is viable)

I go long with this but, IF we move to Dewsbury without a firm plan of sorting out a permanent home then, we are on borrowed time as a professional RL club.
I just don't see how we attract new fans under this scenario and the regulars will dwindle over a period of time.

I think you miss the point. It will be three/four miles further for me but I would willingly go IF there is something positive that makes me know the move is TEMPORARY.
It's very simple for me as a 55 year supporter (season ticket holder and formerly having raised thousands for the club as a lottery agent many years ago) IF there is a move to Dewsbury with nothing FIRMLY in place I'm done. I will find another pastime.
I've been misled, deceived and lied to over the years and I guess you reach a point where you think 'who cares'.

What ever the equations are it involves a large element of speculation on the numbers. It would take a lot of experience of RL marketing to get this figure correct. All I can say he has a hell of a lot more optimistic view of the upside of crowds in Dewsbury then I do. I fully except that I don't know all the sums and I'm just basing my speculation on the the costs of BV been £250k a year.
