If you had read my post, I never slagged him off.
Just stated [iall [/irefs start with a clean slate - like they do every season.'"
I'm sure he'll appreciate it and won't let you down.

| Quote: imwakefieldtillidie "I remember everyone criticising Grant aftee the Catalans game for giving a try that was over the dead ball line, but when the replays came out it was a yard in play and the officials were right. I didn't see many fans apologising after that.
And now people have the cheek to say they're giving the refs a clean slate!'"
Stop being over dramatic for heavens sake.
Officials make mistakes many times through the season and some are more influencing than others. There is no issue with fans saying they will start from a nuetral opinion and then form their opinions on this years performances. I am one of those fans and I don’t see why you would call me out as having cheek for keeping my powder dry until the games start to unfold.
If anything it’s understanding that referees develop their knowledge and game as seasons go by and that mistakes will happen. Whatever happened previous seasons in terms of officiating doesn’t matter this season. If the refs have a good consistent performance in 2023 or a sub par one I’ll make my opinion based on that.
For the record I haven’t slated any referee and don’t tend to. I haven’t really seen anyone on here either. They have a tough job and I feel they could do with more support and investment. I’m sure they do their best. Most fans and trinity fans realise this. Doesn’t make it any less frustrating though when a balls ripped and a knock on is called or a try is given with a foot way in touch though. Hopefully that doesn’t happen this season.

| A tweet from catalans seems to suggest Pearce will play. I thought he was banned.

He is banned, or he should be. I believe they changed the rules on some grade charges so instead of bans, players receive a fine instead, surely they can`t go back and retrospectively change the ban to a fine?!
Anyway, strong squad! Tanginoa in there, which when you look at the players that will naturally drop out from the wing/centre spots suggests that he may well be in the matchday 17.

Yes, it's definitely the professional, full time referees that need to develop their knowledge! Never understood how they can stand so close to the game yet get it so wrong when and fans can stand 100 yards away with a pint in their hand whilst talking to a few mates and get every decision right! It's so frustrating!

| I always try to see referees as unbiased and professionals doing a difficult job. My gripe is that they are inconsistent, and this can infuriate fans who are passionate about their club. Kendal for me is the worst and he's a touch arrogant with it.

I just can't get how Lineham can go from a player we wanted out for most of last season to jumping in front of Murphy who set the league alight. .I think it's clear that Lineham is back in a better mindset this year but currently that is only to be a more competent replacement than say Liam Kay or Kyle Evans would have been last season.
Murphy in for Lineham and I don't think there is much more else I can disagree with you on that squad.

Whilst I can see the benefits of a big three quarter line, I thought they looked a bit immobile against Halifax.
Murphy has to start in my opinion.

Surely any bans from last season should count then the slate should be wiped

Then how do you justify Langi over Hall?
It’s only 18 months since Langi rejected us despite having signed a contract to play for Wakefield Trinity.
Hall on the other hand, in a team that was misfiring, was consistently excellent for us last year and performed so well even though he had only just arrived from Leeds and was just 20 years old. He’s a year older, now has his feet firmly under the table at Wakefield and has last years experience to draw on.
