I don't. We all seem to be in the dark ..but if it was something else then I think we would be having a joint press conference tomorrow!

| I have read all the pages on this thread and other related threads and quite frankly I have no idea who is right or wrong or what to believe but to me its become irrelevant.
Brian Smith has gone. I loved listening to him speak and thought when he was appointed for this season it was the Clubs best appointment of the close season and that under Brian we would kick on. Unfortunately that will not be the case.
I do believe that if Michael Carter had not made the insipred decision to appoint him we would have been relegated and would not be having this debate. For keeping us in Super League Brian Smith will forever have my thanks and gratitude as does John Kear.
But similarly when Andrew Glover left the Club on the verge of administration I sat down with Michael and Chris Brereton and was shown the books, if you could call them that, and saw the extent of the debt we were facing. It would have been easy to just let the Club go into Administration again but the RFL had made that clear that we would be relagated to the Championship - I even wrote to the RFL about it and how they had assisted Bradford and was ridiculed on the Bradford Board and even had my address mentioned.
They were not prepared to accept relegation and Michael and Chris fought to pay all creditors, even putting their houses on the line to ensure that we retain our Super League status and for that they also will forever have my thanks and gratitude.
As I say, I don't know who to believe any more but don't care. All I know that is that Brian Smith has gone and all the best to him, Michael and Chris remain and we need to get behind them and whoever the new Head Coach is and keep on supporting this Club, which, whatever people are saying on here, we all love.
It's not easy being a Wakefield fan, but it never has been in all the 50+ years I have been assocaited with it.

Not a cat in Hell's chance .....
he is rumoured to be commited to the new Canadian job *if reports of his advances on our players & coaching staff (to go to Canada) are to be believed*.

| We will never know the real reason but why do we have to fill the void with unsubstantiated theories based on the imagination of some forum members. To type it does not mean it is the truth, if it was I will win the lottery tomorrow.
I am not so supportive of those in charge because they must hold some responsibility for the mess we appear to be in again. I will take great interest in who gets the job permanently because we can then have a better idea if it was to save money by who they appoint. I doubt we will be looking to bring in any further players so we will have to see what impact this will have on the team's performance. To have one coach resign is unusual but now we have three.

I agree, I haven't the foggiest one way or the other what's happened, even after reading through all this. As others have said it's a strange one after just a few games and one that i think no one saw coming. It may be rugby related then again it may not.
Hopefully we can find the right man to take us forward, fairly quickly (who i don't know but then again i didn't see BS coming) and looking from a (very) optimistic outlook, hopefully we'll get that new coach effect like we did under Webster when he took charge and win a few games, this time with a better long term outcome though.

Quickest appointment ever. ideally we put the job out there and see who's best and take it from there, no need to rush into anything imo.

I might be being naive here but I imagine as a club we can't afford to be sacking coaches and at least Agar and Webster were gentlemanly enough to accept a severance deal for their resignation, rather than insist on the full contract being paid.
Further it's not really a surprise that we go through coaches, sad to say but it's a fairly thankless task is coaching Wakefield at the moment. Your whole ambition for the season is to survive in SL, with your neighbours picking out anyone who looks decent every year, its a constant rebuilding job. A lot of pressure with very limited opportunity to progress.
Anyone moaning about Cartner needs to give their head a wobble, we are the only club in the league without a rich benefactor who can afford to cover losses each year. We're not in that position and for him to have got the club pretty much wiping it's own face is testament to his acumen.
It's a tough gig being a Wakey fan but it's just another page in the rich tapestry for me, how we'll all laugh about this when we win the treble in 2020

Agree, I've said it for years, anyone that owns Trinity is onto a bit of a hiding for nothing, unless they've got plenty of cash on the hip and for that reason I respect all those who try because I certainly wouldn't gamble my cash and put up with all the headache.
Maybe one day we'll get one of our own mythical loaded blokes who wants to get into owning a RL club.

| If we replace him well this is a good thing everybody on here say we have championship players well can you not remember after bradford game how smith had secured 8 or 9 players for this season well alot of these are no way near good enough players like morris, finn, gibson, plus the resigning of arundal walker -just to name a few then we let our best creative player in godinet go.
My worry is that we end up with dickens or chester if we do then we have major problems

| It's best we wait until the press conference, we can all surmise and point the finger but let's wait and see what reasons he has for leaving. I'm a bit saddened by this news, I thought we were making slow but steady progress which is what we all wanted, a sound financial footing and a competitive team on the field. I liked his style and how he came across, how he went about getting his point to the media, we were starting to get a bit more respect. Ah well, another sad day as a Trinity supporter, let's see what tomorrow brings.

Couldn't agree more with this post.
I was saddened with yesterdays news as I loved hearing Brian speak but seeing some slate MC also saddens me. All I can see is his hard graft and personal sacrifices for our club when nobody else was prepared to step up to the job and the club was clearly in a dire financial mess.
MC and all the club have my support.

I think the vast majority of posters on here acknowledge what MC and his sidekick have done and are doing for the club. I'm sure some comments made doubting them are borne out of pure frustration.
As a supporter of our club you get used to drama - unfortunately it never seems to end.
