Quote: Sandal Cat "They will not just develop another 60,000 square metres and then walk away. That will still leave much of the site to re developed and they just will not do this if there is interest from occupiers out there which we believe there is - there is lots of money to be made.

What they are likely to do in my opinion is continue to submit stand alone planning applications like Newcold that do not, according to the Council contribute to the trigger point, although they are unable to supply a copy of the legal advice that confirms this and the S106 agreement is worthless and the condition imposed by the Secretary of State ignored.

I'm afraid I have to agree with your outlook, both of which I feel will result in the demise of Wakefield Trinity as we have known it. I also hate to be so pessimistic but that is why The Supporters Trust, The Club, SWAG, The Stadium Trust and Residents for Newmarket are not going to accept the situation and will continue to fight for what we feel the citizens of Wakefield deserve and were promised.'"

They might not walk away indefinately, but for long enough to ensure that there isn't a club around to cause a problem.

Going by the figures i've seen on another site then the current, ridiculously over-sized, Newcold build is itself only 27,000 square metres of building, rising to 38,700 when the second part of it is built. So that in itself is over 21,000 square metres short and that doesn't even count and likely now never will. Best we could probably hope for is that any future developments are forced to be within the original decisions parameters and are made to count towards the trigger point. Problem is those figures show just how much building would have to take place before we even got started on the stadium. Even then all the units have to be occupied before building has to commence so the best case scenario we are talking in terms of quite a few years before we would be playing at Newmarket. Question is, do we have that amount of time if Belle Vue is so unviable? The longer Yorkcourt play for time the weaker we are likely to become and i share your pessimistic outlook on the future.

Pathetic. It reads as if they've sent it to wmdc for editing first...?

Could more stomach ground sharing, or if we really had to, merging with Fev or Dewsbury rather than Cas.

Looks to me that YEP have copy and pasted the WE article which in itself was a pathetic effort, splinters on ar se time sitting on that fence!

Please - in what ways would ground sharing with anybody, let alone Dewsbury or Rovers, be a positive step? Wakefield Trinity and the city of Wakefield need a good, fit for purpose, modern(ish) stadium. Full stop! Unfortunately, the council doesn't seem to think that way and the WE doesn't seem to think that way. So who's fighting our corner?
TRB, Sandalcat etc you've been doing a great job in extremely difficult and frustrating circumstances. Please, what's the next step or steps and how can ordinary supporters (including those like me who don't live in the city) do to help??? There are lots of ideas for emails to all and sundry, protests at the cycling, legal action etc but action needs to be planned and coordinated. Anything I can do to help for one - count me in. Too much pessimism about Trinity dying. The club might be on its knees but we're not dead yet and where there's life there's hope. As an aside and for a start - every fan on here should be buying tickets for the Leigh match and encouraging others to do so. Let's fill BV, give the lads some support and get a bit of cash in to the coffers. It's "Wakefield 'till I die", not "Wakefield 'till I or the club dies whichever comes first"!!!!!

This.

Don't worry we are looking at what we do next and we are prepared to do whatever is needed to give this club a long and sustainable future within Wakefield.

Wakefield Trinity has been part of my family's life for 4 generations as it will have been for many so I'm prepared to fight for it as I'm sure many of you are as well.

You can guarantee that we are not going to let this lie.

Great to hear Sandal Cat. Like you, I've got memories of my dad and granddad at BV. My great granddad played for Trinity (pre 1895). WTRLFC is in my DNA. I've witnessed EPIC sporting occasions involving Trinity and/or BV: we cannot just say, "Well, it was good while it lasted, but that's the end of top level rugby league in Wakefield". Let us, all supporters, know what we can do to help. In this situation we really are stronger together!!!

I've just had a reply from an Email I sent to Andrea Jenkyns (Tory candidate) . She has given her full support also saying she wants to attend any up and coming meetings. Was she invited to the meeting on Wednesday?

Don't know if she had a direct invite but I know that TRB met with her and I'm sure he would have mentioned the meeting. In any event it was a Public open meeting and she would have been welcome to attend. There were UKIP Councillors and candidates at the meeting who all expressed their support for our cause.

Nice to hear that she is supporting us.

I said ground sharing 'if we had to'.
As in no money to continue to pay rent for Belle Vue or BOI securing permission to sell ground.
Both of which could lead to the demise of the club.
I am certainly no quitter!
I have written to numerous media outlets and politicians and will be supporting Trinity as I have for over 60 years!
