Sadly this is so true.

No offence mate, didn't make myself clear thats all.
Why do 1/3 (or whatever the quoted figure is) of marriages end in divorce?
Things change, people change, things change people...
Its all personal, but i would never question any supporter of our club who had seen enough, they would have my deep empathy and sympathy.

| Don't like the changes one bit. As a former sponsor it will also affect revenues there as well, how can you command as much from them when they don't kbow what they are getting?
I notice SL has a new sponsor now, First Utility. Quite apt i thought. Welcome to the Futility superleague.

| Most on here are adults and have a free choice. Whilst I can sympathise with those who see the changes in a negative light, my own choice is to continue to support the club and the City it represents in the best way I can.
I look forward to the season ahead - backs to the wall, up against it, heavy duty hard graft to prove a point, once again, to those that doubt us as a club - and then to the following season, be it in the top 12 and pitting ourselves against the best in the game and trying to find a way into the 8 - or even finding ourselves in the middle and then being challenged by the Championship clubs strutting their stuff and fancying their chances of taking our place on the perch, or indeed being one of those clubs and looking forward to taking a few SL clubs down a peg or two!
I really don't see what the problem is - the game is what counts and the athletes who play it - whilst they are there and there is a club in Wakey - bring it on!

As a spectator sport we are badly let down and without spectators we don't have a game or need for athletes.
I think i'm having a bad day

| For me and I suspect for many others this isn't just about the recent structural change, it's about a string of poor leadership decisions stretching back for too many years to bare thinking about.
Just off the top of my head and by no means a definitive list, far far from it.
The dropping of GB and tours
Dual registration
The erosion of youth pathways
P & R
Wigans escape from relegation being 'ahem' allowed
The diminished importance of the CC
Franchising fiasco
Bradfords iconic status and double dealing by the RFL
Fast tracking Celtic Crusaders
Merging Sheffield and Huddersfield/ Hull and Gateshead
The Stobart deal
No SL sponsor
No World Cup sponsor
Denying Wakefield entry into SL then allowing it but without funding
Denying Hunslet entry into SL
The double standards, look the other way of accommodating London
The RFLs development Officer redundancies while BG Nige awarded himself a payrise taking his salary to almost £300K
And so on....
Like I said, by no means a definitive list.
I'm disillusioned by it all...
Show me a light, offer me some reason to beleive that things will improve because I'm falling out of love....

| The most disappointing aspect with this thread, aren't the comments from disillusioned fans that are going to jack in with the game (and the are sad to read).
It is the fact that the paying public are having changes forced upon them that they just don't want.
The promotion relegation issue has been ignored and fudged since the inception of SL but, instead of introducing 1 up 1 down, the clowns at the top table tell us that it will be better and "more meaningful" to change the whole bloody concept of playing within a league structure.
Fans of our great club are now torn between following their club in a joke league or walking away.
Most of us will continue to support Trinity but this is in spite of the governing body and certainly not because of it.

Nothing stiff or upper about me - I'm just saying that I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead. We will have good times and bad times and, it seems, there will be old faces gone and hopefully some new ones on board - nothing much changes.
It seems to me that people have lost a huge amount of perspective. I ask you, when was the game any different from today? From one division - and despite the great sides of the 60's there were some appalling crowds - to two, to three, to promotion, to licencing, to summer rugby, to extra fixtures, to salary caps, to academies, to grand finals, to first past the post...... - and back again..... we've seen it all in this sport, but we're still here and I'm still here and will continue to be so. What's changed?
Bring on Salford!

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Can I just say this, I stopped going watching Leigh almost 2 years ago, I was bored with nothing to play for, bored with dwindling crowds in a souless LSV ( give me Hilton Park anyday ) , dissolutioned with a clueless administration
I attended your final league match against Salford, it is the only time I have sat in the LSV's South Stand, bloody Hell I enjoyed that night, you lot didnt stop singing for the full 80 minutes, I could hear you as I was walking over the canal bridge 600 yards away
I really do envy you playing at Belle Vue against quality opposition with decent away support and a great atmosphere, the ONLY thing missing for you right now is?
Genuine competition, something ' Real ' to play for, you are going to get that back , why would you now decide not to go? ,

Well said that man. This new system is far, far better for Wakey than any 1 up 1 down or 2 up 2 down system if people would just stop to think about it instead of blindly jumping on the bandwagon of negativity. It's a simple system, not a complicated one at all with significant levels of funding to help ambitious clubs to make the step up. And importantly it's fair for all clubs throughout the leagues.

How do you know that "the paying public are having changes forced upon them they just don't want"?
I take 99% of the tripe on the VT with a huge dollop of salt but there's a poll on there in which a (small) majority agree with the change. You talk about the clowns at the top table but we voted in favour didn't we? Anyway, we are where we are. I suggest we get on with it. The best way to stick it up the governing body is to come higher than 12th next year and move forward from there. It would be great if all fans were there to cheer them on.

Sorry but, whatever position Wakefield finish in the league next season has got nothing to do with the new structure being a good thing or otherwise.
Ok, I haven't made a poll of supporters on the forum but, everybody that I have spoken to personally,(with one exception) thinks that it is utter garbage.
Of course, they may all be wrong but, I happen to agree with them.
The bottom half of SL will be in a cycle of perpetual relegation struggle whether they like it or not.
First of all 2 clubs face the drop this season and after that, there will be 4-6 clubs involved EVERY SEASON and this simply will not allow these clubs to plan for SL and grow their fan base.
If you can remember when SL was formed, the abolition of relegation was cited as a way to help the clubs improve junior development and increase the numbers of home grown players.
There has been progress with this at most clubs and this will cease to happen, just as it did in the old Division 1 days, with journeymen pros moving from bottom club to bottom club.
Regarding us voting in favour, who knows but, we are hardly in a position to go against the wishes of the RFL.
Yes, I will be watching Wakefield both home and away next season but, this doesn't make the situation right and when you see the numbers of long standing supporters who are prepared to walk away from the game because of the nature of the change, it tells you that something has gone horribly wrong.
If you are happy with the change, that's fine but I ain't !
