Quote: rugbyball "At least your being honest about what you want.

I might also add I am a rovers supporter see no real chance of us getting the green belt on our land reclassified, for many of the same reasons you will struggle.'"

But just think about it. If Newmarket gets the nod from the planners then Fev's chances are also greatly increased. Whats good for Wakey is therefore good for Fev and thats what you want isn't it ?

For what my opinions worth, I think we are all pawns, we need a ground (and that's all we're bothered about!!) but to get it we need the whole development, and that's what the developers want ( and really all there bothered about!!) the people of Newmarket lane don't want any of it and they know that the easiest target, and indeed main target is the large industrial development because of it's size and the fact that without it there won't be a ground aswell.
At the end of the day we have absolutely zilch impact on all of this, despite what others on here say or think, this is big business and really that is our best hope, the land has been bought for good reason, to be used, millions of pounds of land sat there for no reason is no good to the developers and that is also a warning in itself to those people who are so opposed to this development. If this doesn't happen something else will, so think on! As for us lot sit back and wait, we have no power in this, the antis have more but nowhere near as much as the developers, who will sure ultimately provail.

That's just about bob-on that, except for one thing - individually our opinions matter littel, but put 15,000+ opinions together and you have a substantial public voice. There was luck about either the timing or the effort put into the petition. We knew we could do this once only and we had to make our voices count - and that is what we have done.

The other stuff raised on here, dealing with Leeds CC, other developers etc, is not the business of SWAG and as such we will leave it to those with better knowledge of such deals to handle.

I'm not uncomfortable at all with where we are - because I believe that what we are doing is right! icon_biggrin.gif

What's done is done, where we are now and forward from here, we have no power or influence.
We need to let the developers get on with it because they are the only ones that matter, and the most at stake (financially), and then we get what we want, hopefully.

I'm missing nothing. We have a massive job still to do - and we have a massive influensive power that we need to keep involved and alert. SWAG was formed to influence the politics in Wakefield - and the final say on this will be the politicians - don't forget that! icon_wink.gif

Sorry but I disagree, the "whole" development is what matters to the "people" that matter.
If the development was looking like being refused because of an unpopular aspect, (such as a sports stadium) the plans would be changed, and you would have no say at all. You only have to look at the plans to see how the development has used/benefited from placing the ground where it is to be sited.
We are desperate for the ground because of our own reasons but we are a very very small potato, and if you don't believe that you are deluded.
As for the poloticians, they would buy and sell their souls for a sniff of winning, so there all either going to be, all for it or risk loosing more votes than they would get, apposing it. Morales and politicians don't go together it's a simple matter of numbers with them.
We've done our bit with the petition, and well done to you for that, but now we,re out of the equation.

Letters and Emails to the express and local politicians in support of the development will help and will do no harm

I really don't understand where you are coming from. You are risking a vital element in the overall equation - through complacency.

You have alluded to the overall scheme, yet you seem blinkered to the role of the individual cog within the machine - to the point where I am beginning to think you are being deliberately contrare. icon_confused.gif

no complacency at all, I just happen to think that we've all played our bit and now it's down to the developers who have a different set of objectives to us, but we have a common intrest.
I may be blinkered, like you may be full of your own importance which is why you are always very accusing of others with opposing views to your own.

I have no view of my own importance - I do however have a view of the importance of this project.
