Quote: Scarlet Pimpernell "The bottom line is that this is just another defeat. What is that now 9 out of 44, so whichever way you look at it this does not bode well for our SL future.'"
I know you're trying to make a point and with cherry-picking like that there's maybe a job for you in politics.
I only make it 9 from 43, but usually you don't include the win against Bradford in the cup, so 8 from 42?
It's surely a coincidence that immediately prior to your chosen cut-off point we won 9 from 15 before the massive injury list of 2019 kicked in.
Then last year, by the same method, you could have said we won 3 from 5 at the end of the season, but chose not to.
This season has been a poor start, but when you look at the fixture list, it's hardly surprising. Only teams from last year's top 6 in the first 7 games and all but one away from home. Have we ever had such a tough start to the season?
2020 was mostly a write off, but even then, prior to lock down, we were 3 from 6. During the peak of Covid disruptions after the restart in August, we did lose 10 in row, but again, look at the opposition: Catalans 3 times, Wigan twice, Saints twice, Warrington, Hull FC and Huddersfield. Our focus was on completing the fixture list to ensure income from Sky to keep the club afloat. With no relegation and compressed fixtures, they had the feeling of a series of friendlies. In that respect, we were successful. We played more games than any other team and played even when we could have postponed.
Bottom line, we're nowhere near as bad as you're trying to make out. For me, Chester is under huge pressure and will have to make a big turnaround to avoid losing his job. Like I've said before, I'd give him to the Salford game at the start of July where we need to be more than 2 points above the relegation place. If not, he gets replaced then. If he does make it, he gets to the end of the season, but if we finish in the bottom 3, then he is replaced in the off season.
A list of fixtures back to the 2019 season. A very challenging period, but a win rate of 31% despite all that.
