| Chris Chester is not a God, if Brian Smith could not get his squad to defend, tackle, catch, pass, attack what chance has poor old Chester got. Inspiration and perspiration can improve our defense, but our players are not of the required standard, simple skills such as passing and catching are beyond them, understanding defensive structures is beyond them. That said I think Chester will have the new coach effect and we will see the amount of points conceded from 40 down to 30, which with our players will be a huge achievement, attack wise Chester should know that if he plays Finn and Miller then at best we can manage 1 try per match. Chester has indicated that we are looking to bring in a player, in the meantime playing anyone other than Finn and Miller would be an improvement. I would go with Tansey and Hall, not great but better than Fimm and Miller.

| Big game on friday now, our talent isn't in question, our attitude and mental strength is.
Yesterday we were on top against Catalans at half time and dominated the last 25 minutes, we simply didn't turn up in the 2nd half, and what we did do was lazy, lethargic and slow, we rightly got punished, do the same on friday and you'll beat us!
Not sure about numbers,Ellis and Smith both definitely out Eorl was concussed, so he could be missing, Broughy went off as a precaution with a leg injury, Wardle will be banned for his red card, Tansey can't play, but we could have Brierley and young Simpson back in the squad.
Can't say i'm looking forward to it!

| Shudds will do their usual number on us, saving Anderson's bacon until after the Easter weekend.

Not sure why you lump Finn and Miller together as IMHO thry are not a partnership.
Finn is what he is we all know that and given the correct players around him he's effective as shown at your beloved Cas.
Watch the game and see the number of times Finn is left stranded in no mans land looking for Miller (and others) only to have him on the wrong side, behind him or a fifty yard pass away - as we know he aint Wally Lewis. He needs to up his game but he needs a proper partner.
I really hate to pick on individuals but despite being gifted with pace and agility for me Miller is the worst RL player I think I've ever seen at BV, certainly the worst halfback and I include Tommy Lee and Ronnie Troutman in that! He simply can't or won't play the game, it's as if he's never been coached. He reminds me of those RU converts in the 80's and 90's playing their first game but without the potential to improve. Put him with Thurston and he might just be OK, just as he was for a game or two with Smith towards the end of last year but for a valuable import that's nowhere near good enough.
Everything stops at Miller when we attack. He needs intensive one on one coaching to teach him the basics of halfback play and needs his roll in the team drilled into him. To say that of an NRL trained player is damning but trust us to get the dud. I also thinks he actually needs the help of a sports psychologist as I swear he has a passing yip. When he occasionally is in the right place and sees the gap or the over lap he shapes to pass then appears to lose his nerve even though it's clearly on. Invitably he either pulls the ball back into his chest and crashes into the tackle often losing the ball. Worse he does just about let go with a jerky pass that inevitably land between the two potential recipients or goes forward making everyone look a chump.
I simply cannot understand why we persist, almost anyone would be less destructive to our overall game. I'll say it again, poor though some of the rest of them are - everything stops at Miller.
That's the reason we are so easy to beat, it's not our defence that cost us it's the attack. The opposition know that they can play relatively badly and still win because they know we can't outscore them and thus they don't have to defend. We all got excited against Catalan because for nearly 20 minutes we applied pressure but that's such a rarity and had Miller been on his game we would have managed that in the first half.
Maybe I'm being overly harsh but everytime I watch him my heart sinks and I remember my own lad playing the game and I swear he and evey young half back he played against was better.

Correct, this game is simply a banker for Hudds - always has been always will be. I know we freaked the odd win but generally it's a training run for them.
They could send their office staff coached by the groundsman and they would still have to much pride and guile for us - worse still is that scenario also applied for better teams than we currently have!

You're spot on with Miller. I said it last season when a rumoured new deal was on the cards he be okay for the championship but if we stayed in SL we needed better.
Personally think he'd be better in the three quarters or at full back as he running game was excellent for a brief period when Smith initially took over. As it currently stands we're back to playing with just one half who isn't a patch on the one we had last year (despite the flaws in his games).
We need that extra quality Chester was referring to but I'm not entirely sure where that's going to come from.

| I know there is a tendency on here to look for a scapegoat but I agree with Vasty. The buck stops with Miller.
We did take on the line once at Hull but otherwise a it was a shambles. I sat in the directors box with FC friends and amazingly, they thought our half backs outplayed theirs so perspective is weird sometimes.
Give Jowitt a run at fullback and give Hall a run at 6. It just could not be any less effective. We spent some good minutes in the FC 20 but did not have an idea in the bank.
Finn finds himself in space often, and although he hasn't the pace, a good 6 would be there to finish.

| Would rather have Miller in team than Finn any day. Finn is stranded a lot because he has no speed, therefore not fast enough to get to a point on the field to work a move . Met a few ex rugby players who say Finn as been a good player in the lower league but to old and slow for s league.I would try Scott Moore in the half's do not think we would be any worse off. The halfback's have been a problem since D Brough left that no coach since has been able to work out.

How do you think we feel, we have to live with that feeling every game for over a year and counting.

Funny that because I have never heard anyone connected with the game who would take Miller over Finn, though I concede a few agree with you on Finn ability whilst others don't. What is a red herring is Finns pace, he's never had any but he could work a move at Cas and was more than capable when playing for Fev to be the best H/B on the park when playing Cas and Wigan in the CCup.
Sorry but Millers your problem IMHO and he has shed loads of pace so you've kind of contradicted yourself on that one.
