| Quote bren2k="bren2k"We seem to be obsessed with size on this forum!
Granted, a forward has to be a big human, but it's not a requirement to be freakishly big to be good; look at Jarrad Hickey, Eorl Crabtree and Ian Kirke for examples of abnormally tall props, who don't run their weight; compare and contrast with Paul Gallen, Anthony Watmough or Sam Moa - all line busting, hard to handle forwards who come in under 6 foot.
Paea would be a great signing for us - he'll go well alongside FuiFui (exactly six feet tall!)'"
I'd agree, Stosic was that, if not slightly shorter, but he had sufficient size to more than do the job in attack and defence.

| The big difference between the giants I listed and their smaller but way better counterparts, is bottle, toughness and technique; it could be argued that having a lower centre of gravity is actually an advantage in many situations on the pitch, but I'm not clever enough to make that argument - certainly Moa and Gallen have a tackle technique that involves driving upwards with the leg muscles, which has to be more effective than grabbing with the (comparatively) weaker upper body.
Anyhow, I don't care how tall they are (or aren't) provided they're effective; I'd certainly take one Paul Gallen over any number of Ian Kirkes, every day of the week.

| A good big un will always beat a good little un
Gallen or Sam Burgess = Big Sam everytime
Michael O'Conner or Gene Miles = Miles by er..miles
Eric Grothe or Kerry Bousted = The Guru
James Stosic or Shane Tronc = Tronc
You have to compare like for like, it's no good comparing Anthony Watmough with Frankie Mariano in order to disprove the rule.
A smaller, lighter prop forward with sheer class like Webke was superb but a much bigger heavier prop with class like Glenn Lazarus was better

Midget prop but more than good enough for one of the best teams in Rugby League.

| he's not a big prop though but even at 5'10" & 17st 7lbs he outweighs Paeya by a 1st
I'm not saying LP isn't a good signing either, in fact see my first post where I say absolutely the opposite, but for a prop forward in the modern game 6' and 16st 7lbs is not big, I don't see the argument
