| Quote: J.T "There were plenty of decent performances early on in the season but the masses didn't flock down they hardly bothered to turn out when we made the play offs so I think it's a fair comment on the apathetic Wakefield public.'"
Aren't our crowds up by almost a thousand per game in comparison with corresponding games from last year?
After everything that happened in the closed season I think that's a pretty big statement from the fans!
In addition there have been many fans who lost money through negated shares and sponsorship due to the administration process yet they've still backed the club by buying season tickets, memberships and 1,500 of them signing up to the 1873 club. Merchandising is up, hospitality is up the good members of this very forum raised nearly £3,000 to sponsor players. The WTWDSA has been very active in raising funds and launching a number of initiatives that help the club, short and long term.
The Supporters Trust is now one of the largest in RL.
I think you're pointing the finger in the wrong direction.

| Quote: J.T "I still find it strange how the tone of your posts has changed since the Club changed hands and suspect that it is because you were happy with how things were under Ted.
The stayaways who promised to come back when Ted left have not. They had plenty of opportunity when things were going reasonably well it's only the last few weeks when the wheels have really fallen off. Glover is hardly going to start putting big money in until the franchise decision is made and the biggest reason we are sweating on that one is down to your old mate Ted.'"
Not at all, there were many aspects of that regime that I disagreed with, but mostly kept them away from here in respect to the position I had at the time.
Whilst still campaigning for the stadium (and we had a significant meeting just this week) I no longer share any of the deeper understanding of where the club is going - in short, I no longer no what the gameplan is. On that basis I am free to review what occurs and interperit it as I feel is appropriate. People like 'Jack' above can be miserable sods at times, but are they wrong? The same could be said of Mopsey last year - and yes, I did think that at the time.
I assume Glover has a gameplan - there is enough evidence of that, but I feel that there is a massive a fundamental flaw in that the product is sheite! There is nothing about which warms my heart, nothing for me to hang on to - nothing!
So my view is (with respect to both parties) that we have gone from frying pan to frier. Ted got the stadium bit right, and even did remarkably well on the playing side with the funds available. Andrew has got the business in much better shape but has taken time to buy into the stadium (now resolved) but has done nothing to convince me about the playing side of the club - far from it in fact, and I fear that what has occurred is that John has been given a greater say in matters when in fact he works better when he has someone to balance his views.
Put it this way, there is little evidence to suggest that anything will change for the positive if we don't change course - and that has little to do with the previous regime!

| In my opinion the clubs in good health apart from the playing side. Now i don't blame the players whatsoever, i think it's personally down to the coaching and conditioning they're receiving. Kear is Head Coach and whilst i've alot of respect for what he's doe for us in troubled times i think it's time for the benefit of WTW that we part company asap.
Those players are capable of an awful lot more, and i want to see our young players turn potential into reality at Wakefield

I am not pointing the finger at the fans I am pointing the finger at the general Wakefield public. All those things are great but is generally the same people time and time again who are putting their hand in their pocket or taking time to attend meetings or to set things up.

| Quote: Schunter "Really? I have seen nothing throughout the periods in the last 6/7 years where we have had a decent team that leads me to think that statement is true. We have increased crowds only marginally all told even when we have had play off rugby. Only a sustained period of success combined with aggressive marketing to juniors would 'work miracles' regarding attendances imo. Crazy talk'"
So how do explain an increase in attendance this season despite losing almost all of our most influential players, being written off as no-hopers and still playing at BV?
What Andrew has achieved is a tremendous model as a business, but with a gaping hole tactically due to the lack of RL knowledge. It's a steep learning curve, but learn we must - and quickly.
Today was another small tac in our SL coffin IMO.

| It's the playing side and coaching/ conditioning side that need a mass shake up!
If we are Sl next year, we need to be looking at a brown, McGuire type coach and tempting a good conditioner from a top team I'n Sl or nrl.
I still dont think sacking kear will do us any favours ATM but I would let drury take the reigns more with kear taking a back seat.

| I dread to think what Kear could do with a full salary cap next season if everything goes to plan.

Quite right. A 14 try mauling by a team who were 11th before kick off is much better.

Is there a link between us doing well in the nines and Kear not being in charge of that team?

It's a different game I'n many ways but the way dreary has the youngsters playing is a different style to kear. Would be interesting to see that style with the current crop

| For me the telling point is how much the performance of players improves after they leave Trinity and work under other coaches. Take Millard and Blanch and to a lesser extent Jeffries this season. We all saw the video of "magic millard" when he played in Australia but he was not allowed to show his undoubted talents in our coaching set-up. Now at Catalans he is showing exactly what we missed. In previous seasons we have released players such as Grix, Atkins,Griffin and others who have gone on to be better players, they can't all be coincidences !
