Why leave the country if you're not injured when your team is possibly about to get into the play offs and then intend to return to play next season? What if we have a couple of second rows get injured in next game so can't play Salford or play offs? Doesn't make sense.

Heard a rumour that he'd been told he would only be playing second team for the rest of this season.... could explain why he has gone home, can't see anyone staying to play in the reserves. Shame really would have liked to have seen him at second row for 80minutes, was wasted at prop.

| But if rugby is your job why walk away when I'd assume he's getting well paid for it? Has Southern walked out or have I missed something here?

Has Southern slipped your missus one or what? The lad's had problems, it happens - he's not had the best time but I'd at least give him a chance to show what he can do before bagging him with every post I make.

| Southern obviously has talent, get him in the second row and he'll be a tackling machine of the Glenn Morrison mould. Would like to see Fletcher come through next year, he scored an outstanding try in the Sheffield Eagles Friendly and has obvious talent.

Not sure i'd play Southern over Kirmond, Lauitiiti or Mariano and ideally the quota players should be regulars, otherwise their place would be better used in other more needy positions in the squad.

Ashley Peacock would be a better option

My thoughts exactly
At the minute sick note and world class drinker matt seers has impressed me far more on the pitch than southern has
John is also a waste of a quota spot and cap money

| I'd rather not see Mason or Solomona back! Where have the Solo rumours come from anyway? They are linking him with Salford too on their board.

Lets hope Salford are right then. Solo was a good player for us in his time but looking at him now I can't see him being much use to us now. We have a similar style of player in Ali who looks 5 times fitter than anyone will ever get Solo again.

| Re: mason, I think with the right coaching he could develop in to a class prop. Cut out the daft pens and knock ons. Hard as nails and hits the line hard. If the article is correct and hudds are paying part of his salary could prove to be a shrewd move.

He's already had some great coaches, I think it's a wee bit late in the day for anyone to turn him into a class prop - surely it's time for the next generation, Masons had his chances.
He's be an OK signing at best which may well be enough who knows.
