Yeah, it’s basically off the shelf pre-formed concrete. I think it’s the same whether it’s seating or standing.
For me the logical next step is to carry it on around the corner to the west terrace. It would be cheap and give a nice flow to the ground. Obviously you’d add extra to meme it deeper on the west. It’s basically concrete Lego, you just add what you need. Then add a simple roof with a TV gantry, job done.
I really wouldn’t spend big on the west terrace. Just needs to be smart and functional. For me it’s the South that offers the real potential for development. Far more space and much better access.
Suspect you already knew most of that.

It would make sense, although I'd like to see a second tier added to the west, much like the end stand at Leeds.

The west only needs basic facilities with a bar/refreshment facilities in the middle. The problem with the south is to replace the south revenue from the flats and build a stand of capacity you’d be looking at multiple millions. I’m not sure that you’d get much more than the few hundred hospitality than we have now.
It would be nice to see though.
I suspect though that we’ll just bang a few hundred seats/terracing in front and connect it to the ground floor of the boxes.
Anyone know if the work has started on the south east sports bar and restaraunt yet?

I never suggested it would be cheap to build new South stand, it would cost not much short of the East if you wanted all singing all dancing. Nor do I think it remotely necessary any time soon. What we have there now is fine, maybe just some seats as you suggest
What I’m trying to do is put myself in a Matt Ellis mindset. Doing stuff cheaply or make do doesn’t seem to be his style.
What I suggested is how I’d do it, leaving the South end of the ground as the ace up my sleeve. What Ellis will do is another story, one I’m not privy to. Have a feeling that whatever he does it will come as a surprise to us all.

He certainly seems to put things in place that are long term solutions rather than short term.
I’m just happy he’s improving it in any capacity and ultimately thankful for what him and his family are doing.
The only downside will be that visiting fans won’t really get to see the true scale of the investment on the. From their perspective other than the new east and perhaps more food option and a banner behind, not much will have changed. Which obviously isn’t the case.

| Personally in order, I'd do
North as they are no, including the back
West, I'd make it seated and covered but no hospitality
Then possibly the Rollin Shack area. Lots of opportunity there.
I'd just do seats or extra hospitality on the South. I'd only make it an East style stand when everything else is done and we are getting crowds or sponsors that warrant it.
Main reason being to improve areas that will give us more capacity.
As said, to change the South you are taking something away that already brings in good money. He's improved the facilities and added a lift.

| I’d love to see a 2 tier West stand with terracing along the lower tier and cheap seats on the upper tier. A basic concourse underneath with outlets and toilets would be just fine. Theres no need for hospitality unless there’s demand for it which of course may happen if they’ve got any future plans to replace the South hospitality boxes.
As for the North Stand they’re doing exactly what I’d like to see them do, bringing the lower tier up to standard with plans to lift the roof and make use of the space at the rear. It would look very very impressive if they matched the height and design of the East Stand roof maybe even joining them at the corners.

| I wonder if ME will consider putting g the sides on the East Stand that were knocked off due to cost. I know ME has said how loves the atmosphere to be loud, sides might improve that.

When did they confirm they were lifting the roof and expanding to the back of the north? It’s great if they’re doing it as you suggest.

It's been talked about plenty but it's a big undertaking and will need some real thinking about with how to support the cantilever roof.

You can do it two ways imho.
A true Cantilever is not on, there simply aren’t the foundations required.
The cheaper option is a Propped Cantilever. It will have two middle stanchions to support the roof that will obscure the view a little. However they are so far back they will only affect about 20% of the capacity.
The better but more expensive method is what’s called a Goal Post construction. Which as the name suggests is a massive girder that is supported by an equally massive post at each end. The roof is then hung beneath. You can only use this method at the ends of grounds, nobody can produce an unsupported girder any longer than 50 meters, or not at a cost that would be viable. It does offer 100% unobstructed viewing.
There is a brilliant example of this type of construction at Carrow Rd Norwich, but it’s fairly common and can be scaled up or down. In fact the small roof on the west terrace is a propped cantilever of sorts.
Ballpark figures.
Propped Cantilever, about 300k
Goalpost around 800k.
I’m being an anorak here, and you probably know all this anyway, but hey.
