| Quote: Mable_Syrup "2 ideas after tonight. We only have 250 or so people signed up using the WTW code on Foxy bingo. Each person brings in £50 to the club. If a disclaimer was arranged could the club use £10 from every season ticket to automatically sign up every season ticket holder generating £50 x 4000 season tickets
2nd idea. If 10% of the total of this seasons ticket holders rejoined for £1000 for a 4 year season ticket would it really have a big negative effect down the line? Create some sense of loss as its only 400 people needed, give some limited edition shirts to wear on game day to show who they are (Brisbane broncos have a yellow shirt section for a similar idea) make them feel special.'"
Bingo as they say, fantastic idea!!!

| I wonder if MC could get the WE to run a feature on the situation?
If they did a 2 page call to arms to the people of Wakefield and include some of the harsh facts about the uncertain feature of the club, some of the armchair/taproom fans might just be galvanised into action. It could also be a useful way to appeal to the business community to get their hands in their pockets. A side-bar showing the ways in which people can help wouldn't go amiss - 1873, Foxy Bingo and ST purchases.
The WE has improved its attitude towards the club in recent years, but if they made an editorial decision to come out in favour of saving the only pro sports club in the City, it wouldn't go amiss.

| Just a thought in sure you will agree these are the longest months of the year not having any rugby to watch so how's about organising a past greats game it being a past versus present or invite past greats from our neighbours to pull on there boots and ask the rugby league world to help whilst generating income for our great club also creating a platform to sell the foxy bingo offer up until last night I did not realise that the club would get 50 if I spent 10.

| What about using some money from st to buy shares in post office coming up soon and if i remember rightly when gas and electric was privatised the shares made a profit as soon as they were floated.

| It means a jolly up for someone but can't you send over your marketing guys over to Oz to find out ideas by visiting every club to see how they generate money OR even football clubs over here.

Good idea.
Also - how about working with the Yorkshire Junior League to organise a massive tournament for jr teams; get all the Mums and Dads through the doors, flog them beer, chips, ST's and of course, sign them up to 1873 and Foxy Bingo.
Junior players would love to run out on the big pitch!

Not wishing to be pedantic but I think its Royal Mail that's being privatised.
Nice thought but its gambling, shares can fall in value as well as rise.

| I have forwarded a proposal to MC and JE regarding opening up the cats bar building (or parts there of) to the public during the week for hot and cold food (eat in and take away), drinks, meeting facilities etc etc.
I would be interested in peoples views on here of whether you think you would use it or not.
Price is key so everything will be keenly priced and we would look to be serving good quality teas and coffees, breakfasts and lunches.
This would be done in conjunction with supplying meals to the players and other club staff and visitors in the same facilities.
Doncaster Road is a busy route used by thousands of commuters each day going to and from wakefield to various other towns and cities and the M62 and A1/M1.
It seems to me that the club has missed an untapped market for years by not exploiting the existing facilities they have to cahs in on take away and eat in breakfasts and other hot and cold meals as people passed by .These people do use the redbeck and numerous other local outlets on a morning and cafes, pubs and restaurants at lunch time plus coffee shops such as Starbucks, Costa etc on a daily basis.
Knowing this industry extremely well i know there is a good profit to be made on such services so turning this venue into a public space where the public and supporters can utilise makes sense to me (at least).
I would be keen to here your feedback.

| It sounds like a very good idea IF you can get the numbers through the door. Hoping that when you say you know this industry very well, you also know how we go about attracting those customers.
Anything that has the potential to generate income that the club doesn't currently have is great.

Too far out of town for footfall, and that's why it doesn't work as a venue to go to on a night. Unless you live in the locality, it's a taxi ride home for most without the advantages of all the other options around you if you're on a night out in the city centre.

What I was about to say; I liked the idea that AG had of opening the club for televised matches, but when it came to it, it was too much hassle for me to get there/home to bother.
As for the meetings idea - tell them to get shot of Linley's or whatever they're called before even considering it; the price they quoted me for use of Cats Bar + teas and coffees was outrageous; more expensive than two upmarket hotels with full conference facilities.
If they can get the pricing structure right, the meetings/training/conference idea could have some legs - they already have a big commercial database to market to I would've thought, so not a standing start. Before Linleys took over, I used it for training and meetings and it was spot on - the delegates loved it when the players were training on the pitch - added a bit of novelty value.

I have some ideas, but a bit of good PR and some good word of mouth would go a long way.
Its viable IMO (but its a huge gamble personally)and getting the supporters mixing at meal times with players etc is something new and different, and the general public on their way to work etc would have spomething new to try too.

| I work for a well known high street financial services company and ran the Foxy bingo idea past them in a joint promotion with taking out a new credit card etc. Whilst they were happy to be involved in any way they could, they were reluctant to be seen to be supporting gambling and the conversation did not go further. However, there may be other companies in the market place who may be more supportive. I recollect one post stating that work colleagues would not get involved as it meant divulging bank details but if a new card was taken out to use specifically for the Foxy offer and then immediately cut up/destroyed would that encourage them to help?
However, moving forward, would it be possible to work with a credit card provider who could provide cashback/rewards which go to the club rather than the individual. The card could carry the club logo, as well as the providers name. One of the leading comparison website indicates: 'The top credit card rewards schemes pay you £3 for every £100 spent on them, an easy way to make £100s or £1,000s a year just by changing plastic.' I would quite happily use such a card with the bonus going to the club without any direct payment from me. Yes, I would 'lose' the cashback but would I really notice it? This has the added advantage that the club appears to have a historical following and supporters/followers who have moved away and cannot attend matches could take out a card and 'do their bit'
