Top six 2005 - Trinity.:

Batemen would be a solid signing for us if we are aiming to fight for a play off spot for 2025 in SL.

He is a current England international isn’t he? Played for England last year I think. When would be the last time we had 3 x England internationals in the squad?

I don’t think he’s at the level he was but he’d be a solid signing. Don’t expect it would be marquee either.

I have full confidence in the club to get right players in.

Second row is certainly an area for 2025 we need 2/3 coming in. Not going to be easy to find that quality to replace Ashurst and Pitts. Boothroyd does show promise imho and is ahead of players his own age from uk talent pool in terms of development however I think we only have one quota spot and still a few gaps to fill in a few areas.

My understanding is, his original demands were not achievable, but in the last few days these have reduced significantly.

Just noticed that Denny Solomona is back in UK playing at centre in RU for a lower league semi-professional club – Rossendale
Apparently was offered a contract by Saints and turned it down
Scored 42 tries for Cas before he ‘retired’ from RL and went to play RU for Sale Sharks
Maybe you can’t ‘unretire’
Maybe DP wouldn’t want to touch him because of what happened
He’s 30 years old
Would make a possible future SL local derby a tasty affair

He very much let Cas down when he left so I can't imagine he and Powell are on great terms.

Plus the fact he'd still be a winger in League and we are pretty well covered there compared to other positions.

Rossendale as a club are way way down in the rufc league structures. If they are the best he can do, what does it say about the bloke. He is bad history can't believe why anyone would consider him

Exactly.
There are 100 other options for the wing before we look at Rossendale firsts.

I don’t know much about his personal life, other than he appeared to walk away from Sale to take his family back to Australia and possibly to qualify and play for his native country and it is surprising that he is playing over here again for a lower league RU team
And I don’t want to be argumentative on this forum, but to say that there are 100 other options for the wing seems to me to be a gross exaggeration. I won’t ask PT to name all of them.
There seem to have been some drug issues in his life too, but there are many, some even on here, who would have taken a punt on Zac Hardaker, with all his problems
There can be no doubt that Solomona is/was a good player and that for one and a bit seasons Daryl Power got the best out of him, I was simply making people aware that a ‘good ‘player was back on these shores, and not too old for a few seasons more
I don’t think we will see him in a Wakey shirt, but I think it undeniable that when he was playing Super League, his ability, marked at least by his scoring prowess, must surely rank higher than a number of current wingers at the club, some perhaps who we have still to see the best of

He last played rugby league in 2016 so I'm not sure you can use that form to say how good he is.

As for the 100, he is currently playing in RU level 5 league.
Even if you say he's in the best team in the best of the 6 regional leagues there are still 78 teams above them.
I reckon even before you look at rugby league you can say there are 156 above them.

I don’t think your logic regarding number of wingers stands up.
Numerically yes, but he may well be playing, and is likely to be playing, well above that standard.
According to press reports at the time, it appears that St Helens made an approach for him in late 2022 to replace Regan Grace but he apparently turned them down.
Clearly they must have considered him suitable for top end Super League around 18 months ago.
We don’t know why he is playing at the level he currently is, whether there are mental, physical, or any other reasons but like you, though unlikely for capability reasons, I don’t think we will see him here and whatever is in his past I wish him well for the future. End of

What about looking at Zac Fulton for bulls. Scored 9 in 9 and can play second row, 13 and centre by the looks but is mainly a second row. Think he only signed for a year at bulls.

Second row is a position we need to look at. That said I like the look of Boothroyd too even though he’s been unlucky with injuries.

Agree, if the club don’t think he’s worth it or the type of player they want to bring in then if this years signings is to go by then so be it.
