Totally agree, prices for a single Matchday Ticket are too expensive and would put a lot off IMO.

Yet people want us to splash the cash to get better players. Quite a conundrum.

Chicken and egg fella but for a good few years now we've had some of the highest ticket prices in Super League and served absolute dross up season after season.
All well and good sitting there with a face like a slapped blaming the fans but eventually one of the two will have to budge and I don't see it been the 2-3 thousand extra fans that are required.
Albeit not looking good this year but Castleford under Powell demonstrated how good rugby can bring the gate up. The fans are fans out there, especially in the younger generation... we just need to entice them in but our time is running out.

You are better off with 1000 people paying £20 than 750 people paying £26 plus more people means more takings in bar/food sales. I have no idea what the increase would be if we reduced prices but then again neither do the club unless they try it.

You are also better off with 750 people paying £26 than 750 paying £20 which is more the reality when a team is not performing to supporter expectations

The gist is that the admittance and the performance of the team impact the attendances. To compensate for the latter maybe a reduction in the former may attract more supporters. I unfortunately believe it is the latter that has the greatest impact and we have seen these stagnate since the end of 2018 with only the occasional bright point.

| Stood behind sticks for last home game against Huddersfield and they were plenty around but many looked bored stiff and as the game progressed a group were not even bothering to watch the game. Also my teenage grandson used to go with about a dozen mates, everyone of them don't bother anymore, they have lost interest.
The fact is for the last few seasons what we have served up has not been entertaining in the main. You could even give away free tickets but if the fayre on show is rubbish no one will want to come. I do believe we are pushing it for charging top buck for poor facilities right now and poor team performance. But without entertaining rugby you can discount all you want but it will fail attract people in numbers.

Yet with the capacity as it is, we wouldn't get that many more anyway.
I understand the point and it's key in any retail environment to get the optimum price on your product.
Difficult to do.

One thing we all know about MC is he is a numbers man and if this tactic worked you'd bet he would reduce ticket prices without fail.
He has said publicly before that when we have reduced tickets or given them away for free the bar and food sales don't make up for the loss of income from ticket sales.
The last regime went with dirt cheap season tickets and we went bust.
On the other hand £26 is a lot of money, you can get 6 pints for that in town (more if you go to one of the dumps) and unfortunately most folk would rather do that.

I agree with you, I don't think free tickets or even cheap tickets are the answer, I think that reducing tickets down to a more reasonable level, somewhere around the £20 mark might work but then you have the issue of it being cheaper to buy individual tickets than season tickets.
I am not a season ticket holder due to the fact I know I won't be able to get to all games but I do try and go when I can. However, £26 to watch to poor onfield product that we have been producing is not value for money and had the game been on TV I certainly would not have been going.

Top six 2005 - Trinity.: |
|
| I think the new stand and redevelopment of north stand is a great opportunity to re-launch Trinity.
It’s clear that there’s plenty of opportunity in the marketing, match day and events department.
Even getting local bands playing pre match and half time would dramatically improve the match day experience.
Heck, get some fire breathers and entertainers in too for short appearances etc (but extreme but options are endless). Some would be relatively low cost.
Certainly I think we need a clear events program and match day experience to start and run alongside the opening of the new stand.
This would certainly help generate the interest and atmosphere. It wouldn’t be instant but there would be reward for sure.
It doesn’t need to be a grand scale but we need some focus on it certainly back end of the season.

| I'll be singing a different tune tomorrow morning, after paying £26.00 to watch us beat KR 22-8 tonight. I'm sure of it...

| There's an awful lot of competition out there as well for what is an ever decreasing amount of peoples disposable income due to the cost of living increases. Many years without any success has diminished the customer pool we are fishing in, most of Wakefield's residents have zero interest in the rugby club or even the game itself these days. Of those remaining 'floating' fans who might be tempted value for money is paramount. A game is about an hour and a half of entertainment, around the same as watching a film. Would you and your better half spend £52 to go to the cinema, especially when (given our record) there's a much better than evens chance you are going to be disappointed? And that's without mentioning our below par facilities. I know i wouldn't and i'd wager neither would many others. On field success is far & away the best hope of increasing the footfall but even then if the price is too high then it will be prohibitive, especially right now. But if we cut prices and it doesn't lead to an increase then we lose out and have even less chance of a successful team so it's a fine balancing act. Personally i think we have priced ourselves a little too highly, we've done nothing to justify charging some of the highest prices in the league. But i understand why we do. It will be interesting to see how a new CEO will go about it.
