The late Adam Watene was brought to this country by Dave,as were others,so that should give you a clue as to the character and personalities he likes to sign.His work with young players is recognized.

I believe his rugby league punditry on television and radio is quite popular.

I know he sees things which happen on a field mere mortals do not see.

I know one of your supporters who had a private box and sponsored Cockayne knew him quite well.

Now michael Monaghan is 3/1 3rd favourite from 10/1 earlyer.

Monaghan may be the leader needed....gamble though as not proven coach.

Could probably still do a job as a player!

Is Monaghan the possible player coach who will take 'half a quota spot' in Michael Carter's words after Lopini Paea leaving? ..

The one thing we don't need is another inexperienced coach. I regret that a successful playing career does not indicate a similar status as a coach.
I may be wrong but Dave Wood's career is at best patchy, if he was considered to be that good he would still be in coaching. I don't remember him keeping down a coaching position for any great period of time but I am sure someone will be able to post his record.

Monaghan may not be an experienced coach but we need someone outside the group who can command respect and if he can pull the boots on and influence what goes on, on the field as Captain, that will be two things we have been missing this season.
As for Woods, got Cas promoted and fair play to him, when he got the push from there,he did the rounds at Gateshead, Whitehaven and York and with the best will in the world, unless you set the world on fire with a budget that would make ours look like millionaires, you're not going to last too long at these clubs.

Monaghan atm is not the right man for us, regardless of his playing career. I wouldn't say no to him signing on as a player though, and I'd stick him in the halves. But for coach, it'd be similar to appointing Webster, with similar disastrous consequences. FWIW McCormack is a decent shout as he is experienced but does he have a strong enough character to deal with this bunch of misfits?

Think Monaghan and Webster are like chalk and cheese, so the comparison can't be made.
