| The problem with our defensive structure (if you can call it structured) is that it does not move. The players are obviously being told to hold their line, but that line should be moving forwards as well! And pressure the kicker.
If the opposition has a good player in their ranks ie. Dobson/chase/ TOMKINS!!
they can take all the time they want to pick out exactly the pass or kick that they want to make, it becomes like a training session.
Did anyone actually tackle chase yesterday, if so I can't remember it.

The standing and waiting for the opposition to run at them annoys me. You have to get 'in their face' if you want to stifle opposition attacking play. Your quite right about the playmakers being given space, Tomkins will murder us next week unless that defence is sorted out. It's not SL standard. I don't know if they are playing to instructions or not but you don't see the likes of Wigan and Warrington standing waiting for the inevitable!

Are people seriously suggesting that a professional level 3 (International) Coach is coaching a full time pro side in the top level to "hold their line" and not move forward in defence? Under 8's and above are taught to move forwards to a greater or lesser degree in combination with other things in defence, do people think Agar is some sort of revolutionary and changing the way the modern game is played, or do you think that the players are simply failing to carry out the instructions of the coaching staff and through a combination of possibly bad attitude and laziness they are stationary in defence?
I agree that Chase didn't get touched and he could have played in a dinner suit, and also that Tomkins may well murder us again if offered the same luxury next week.

| Is the fact agar has the French gig affecting his ability to focus on wakefield? Must say I am not a fan of coaches having more than one role.
Especially when his club role needs all his attention right now

What happened to old fashioned line speed and tackling around the legs? we don't seem to be moving up and putting the pressure on quick enough. I dare say Sam Tomkins watched our game yesterday and I bet he's asked the Wigan kit man for a dinner suit to play in next week.

| Some ridiculous over reactions on here, especially the one about players not been paid. How many time do we after here that rubbish when were in bad patch? Look at the bigger picture, over the last season and a half Agar has had a 44% win rate by my calculations. What more do you expect with our budget, were just in one of them bad runs I'm pretty sure we'll pull it around even though we won't make the 8. Fans should have more realistic targets.

Is it unrealistic to expect a team to do the basics correctly and play with some heart and aggression?

I would have though that Chase could lend him his, I know he’s a talent but he had so much time yesterday – perhaps the threat he posed was discussed as we were planning our defensive structures .
Oh well, at least we can look forwards to Sykes the messiah returning to steady the ship .

You're absolutely right - defence is largely about attitude and ticker; all the defensive drills in the world won't make a player win the collision, stick in the tackle or bend his back to complete the defensive win; that's about having the bottle and being d, something that is sadly lacking at the moment. We are shirt-grabbing, dropping off tackles and standing around watching other players wrestle with a bloke instead of pounding him into the turf and turtling him.
For me, this is about individuals not doing their jobs.

Spot on. Dean Collis' effort to stop Carney when he broke inside from his own half reminded me of me in U11s rugby. Looked to go low and basically bottled it but made it looks somewhat like he made an attempt to tackle. The effort that Fox made for the try where he just backed off until Carney was already over the line was a joke. That to me is just spineless. If you can't put your body on the line, don't aspire to be a professional rugby player. Which is why I play football a lot better!

Many times. And many times it has been true. There is no smoke without fire and i've mentioned on more than one occaision things are a little 'tight' at the club to say the least. Part of the problem was the sponsor going belly up but part is the fact that we don't have the business knowledge running the club day to day. In my opinion Mr Glover puts his trust in people who are commited and hard working but lack experience and ability and it shows. I said when he left Cas that we should get Steve Ferres on board and my opinion hasn't changed. A Mr fixit is required otherwise it could be like a little piece of history repeating.

| Salford showing what a good coach can get out of average players. Patience and sets of 6...might not get the pulse racing but by God I wish we could do it!

Agar has been allowed to get away with being mediocre at our club, with the players we have at the moment it's hard to accept we should be more realistic. Agar had alot more money to play with at Hull, and some of the players he got to work with were excellent and couldn't get them into the 8. Hull couldn't accept this and got shut.
