Well said Bren2K, that is pretty much as i see it, though as much as sometimes i deplore SuperLeague, i aren't giving it up without a fight.

Quote: bren2k "Some of you dingbats appear to have taken a wrong turn on your way to the VT; please move along and let the grown ups talk.

I agree with you; based on the scant information coming out of the club right now and the large amount of rumour and speculation that is filling the gaps, it would seem that the best option is administration, a bargain buy-out and a few years in the Championship to rebuild, ending up in NM and a strong bid for the next round.

In reality though, we have no idea what will happen over the coming weeks; the only thing that is a certainty, is that some short-sighted eejits will wish our club out of existence for the betterment of their own, without realising that they are next against the wall.'"

All very true!

The danger with going into administration is that once you begin tsuch a process you also open a clear path to liquidation! We all hope that some white knight will come along and snap up the club from the administrator but what if we are wrong?

Common sense at last, I think its your mates that need the reality check. I agree that Cas will be next up against the wall should trinity get the push this time, and for us traditional clubs there will be no way back.

Quote: kinleycat "The plans havent changed, just the make up of the land usage which now clearly makes Newmarket the prefered site to comply with the governments own requirements, made to Wakefield council planning dept, for their development plan.
We've kind of worked them into a corner, where if they are arguing, they are arguing against themselves, and they will have to come up with a more suitable site to turn it (Newmarke) down.'"

Not 100% getting but thanks anyway icon_thumb.gif just re classifying land? As surely and new building on any land needs PP anyway? FWIW I expect NM will be passed eventually!

On other points elsewhere, for Oakwell to count then surely you'd have to have an agreement at least in principle for 2012-15. No point comparing Hull & Wigan as long leases purpose built and in their area. (Saints guaranteed new ground). Research would need to be done on crowds and impact in Barnsley area (may do this already of course).

Potential Admin would not be a reason to kick you out after Cru debacle, BUT it would remove your #1 fight against the RFL if it was to happen?

2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg

The reason Cru are staying is the RFL have a £700k charge now on the Racecourse Ground which was offered as security against money owing to themselves. They have also been given a 4 year guarantee of a franchise with £175k deducted from their sky moneys each year for the next 4 years.

Disagree totally that Cas will be the next in line for the drop.
SL and RL need a SL club in the area.
Cas youth dev is excellent and will get better. Hopefully with a new stad the club and far higher turnover they will be able to keep their outstanding youngsters without bigger and wealthier clubs taking them.
Should Wakefield fall out of SL I do think it will give Cas greater access and influence over the best youngsters in the area.
Also i reckon that after one season Cas will average 10k crowds per home game.
Having written all that I really do hope Wakefield survive.
It will be a tragedy for all of RL if they fold and go out of business.

If the new sports village is going to cost 20 million including a new stadium at no cost to the club, why would any company investing such a huge amount sit back and allow the club to possibly go into administration reducing our chances of a super league franchise.

Taking into account the running costs for a new stadium alone, surely logic dictates that the club playing in super league is more financially viable than a club playing in the lower tier.

Is there more going on here than we are aware of?

Thats a very good point Gizmo, If Yorkcourt relistically need us more than we need them, allow the club go out of business cutting their chances of ever developing Newmarket into anything making their investment in the land there worthless?

"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall" "I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg

Be careful, you may find that as time goes by and if the latest LDF goes through, Yorkcourt need WTWC less and less. Stranger things have happened in business.

Think how many flat pack wharehouses they could build on 51 hectares for 15 to 20 million pounds ....... icon_wink.gif

A loss of 14 hectares with a saving of that magnitude may be a price worth paying.

Quote: Inflatable_Armadillo "Firstly, thanks to all those that came this evening, we estimate maybe 100+ people in the room... it was packed anyway!

The planning policy team are now recommending to council that 51ha of land at Newmarket should be re-designated as employment zone for Distribution & Storage units (Bicon_cool.gif from the previous 33ha. They have decided to take 9ha from Cutsyke, Glasshoughton and put houses on this site instead, as they felt it not as suitable for storage units. The other addition 9ha has been given to Newmarket with a of what is most easily described as moving a few bits over to housing and other uses in other area and also the need to plan now (because of a delay in the LDF process) for a bit more space anyway!

THE GREAT NEWS is that current proposal for the distribution & storage units in the current application is just over 50ha, which means that the policy team think Newmarket is the best possible site to deliver the major part of the legally required 95ha and it means that the units current planned in this application are covered by this proposal to to take this amount of space out of Green Belt. This might seem small and technical but it is huge and a huge indication from the council about this site. They are putting two fingers up to Mr Pickles!

Before you ask, no, it not guaranteed that the LDF will be passed by government but if before it was highly likely, it now looks extremely likely and they just can't say we don't like that site, they have to find a better one and recommend Wakefield use that... the good news is that, there does not appear to be one! The SoS have made a rather odd situation for themselves, it is they who told Wakefield to provide more space for warehousing but have called in an application on a site that the planning policy team (and they are the real experts) are even more heavily backing as the most suitable site. This my friends is called.... joined up government... NOT!

It also does somewhat appear to throw a rather large spanner in the current public inquiry as well. The planning inspector can not ignore the fact that another independent public inquiry is recommending this be used and they are holding another public inquiry to decide if this land can be used... if you know what I mean! Because this is a fairly unique set of circumstances we don't know what will happen! However, while this makes planning permission for the development, including the ground ever more likely, it does not speed things up (but you never know) and might even slow them down a bit (only a few months though). Sorry! To be fair that boat sailed on the 13th Dec.

So what happens next! We send the Statements of Support in to the the planning inspector and recommend he sends the application back to Wakefield without holding an inquiry (which he can do if he wishes) but we think that unlikely! We think some sort of inquiry will happen but how and when we don't know, or he holds this up until March 2012 (or sooner) for the LDf to be ratified, if it is a PI is not required and everyone is happy. We just don't know!

Right bed, up early to drive to Stowmarket in the morning!'"

IA you are right they do seem to have backed themselves into a corner. And as you keep telling us the previous government and their officers have made Wakefield find 95ha for warehousing, and and all the facts seem to suggest this was a tall order with the limited amount of land available to do this. So perhaps THIS government and its officers will help Wakefield with the burden and Lower the amount of land required for Warehousing. icon_wink.gif

And what about all the other parts that make up a licence application?

We do have aspects of our application which hold up quite strongly. Our community work is better than most; our junior set up scores pretty well; we have a good amount of home grown talent in the squad and we actually do pretty well for commercial income from sponsors etc.

We score poorly on fan base and on general income.

The ground - well that entirely depends on the basis used for the application.

I would prefer it to be judged on it's own merits - if we cross the finish line then the RFL would then have to decide to eliminate from the bottom up.

Back to NM - can I publicly state what a great job IA did at the presentation on Tuesday. eusa_clap.gif Whatever the outcome of the current situation, we know that Newmarket is vital to our future and we must not lose focus in the fight to keep it on the right path (or cycleway icon_wink.gif )
