| Quote: Prince Buster "Dunkirk, when MC arrived him and CB did a great job for a number of years and stabilised the club. He brought in Brian Smith and Kear and things started to build for the better. I applaud him for all that. However where he has gone wrong in my opinion is that he believed he had the skill and knowlege he could do the job of director of rugby. Just my opinion , it has been an utter disaster since then. When he comes on TV saying telegation could be a blessing, that sums up how shambolic he has run the rugby side.
As for John Minards, nice bloke and yes he has the club at heart. He also did a good job stearing the tricky path to get the stand up and running. My only gripe he has not been strong enough with Carter, sat back and watched him trash the squad. He should have been more pro active and 'ADVISED' MC to step back and get some proper people to run the rugby side.
Anyhow we are at a point in the history of this great club when it takes another turn in the path. I am already aware of some of the content of the new chapter and its quite exciting. For what its worth i just have this feeling that john minards may not be around much longer too. If so i would thank him for his time at the club.'"
"Just have the feeling" based on what?

| Suggesting that "relegation could be a blessing in disguise", reads as though the club have written off our chances of survival.
Losing revenue and supporters would seem to be a very strange "blessing" (whether disguised or not).
I'd much rather that there was some contingency planning going on un the background, just in case and that everyone, front of camera, was telling the world how hard we're fighting and probably suggesting that we have some help coming, either in terms of players, management or coaching staff.
On field, we have been playing for 10/11th spot for the last 3/4 seasons and perhaps we had hoped that, despite having a really poor squad, somehow, either Leigh as the promoted side or a.n.other, would save us (again).
It seems that our luck has finally run out.
The Championship isn't easy to escape from, just ask Fav and right now, we look more likely to be another Widnes (they're going ok this term).

| But why would we be giving up now ???? There is a glimmer of a chance if we do something now ! Just doesn’t make sense to me .. feel we’ve wasted money on 2 season tickets.. plus TV , Squadbuilder etc ..

Who he's friends with is his business not yours.
By all means make a point about what he said, not him personally.

I hope so too.
However we know too well that releasing players before they are out of contract can be a costly exercise. Taufua and Kershaw are out of contract this year, and all the others have another year left.
Didn't MC state in his interview regarding Cory Hall too, that he had already been in discussions with players coming off contract this year. Who knows some of these players we'd like to see the back off may have already got an extended deal agreed, which if we stay up would be binding.

Without sounding too negative I don’t think we have a cat in hells chance of staying up. A realistic scenario for me is we’ll be in the championship next year, with all players technically then been OOC. We now need to be seeing which players we want to be keeping for the championship next year and building a platform for returning in 2025 when hopefully we’ll be the 12th team to qualify under IMG’s structure. We’ve simply accumulated too much dead wood. If pigs could fly and do manage to stay up this year we would be in a awful position with Lineham and Co still in contract. I’ve never seen a team lack as much edge pace in my time of watching. Ashurst is our top try scorer which sums up the team. If a new investor is imminent, hopefully we will have a blank canvas to work from.

| I remember after the victory over Bradford one chairman indicated if we had lost then he would have to reconsider staying on.

A blank canvas but, in the Championship, really doesn't sound great.
I agree about us accumulating a lot of dead wood.
There should be a huge incentive for any contracted players, as most would be unlikely to gain a SL contract elsewhere.

| The fact that some actually believe that relegation is a positive just shows the mess made by the current incumbents. It is not and never will be a positive, I agree our performances over the last few seasons have been bad but who is to blame for that not the supporters. We had a good, possibly very good squad only a few seasons ago then for whatever reason (reducing expenditure) this was trimmed and players replaced by less quality and now less numbers. I suppose when you have such a personality in charge and taking on the director of rugby’s responsibilities he believes that he knows what the club needs added to by the fact that we have survived when all looks lost.

Honestly I always start agreeing with your post then you manage to throw a Carter dig in.
Relegation bad - I agree
Used to have a good squad - agree
Expenditure reduced - yes I agree
Replaced some with less capable players - yes but I'm pretty sure they didn't do it on purpose
Carter at fault - well I can't imagine he's signing players on his own. He sets the budget not the target list.

| If we go down, the playing performance suddenly becomes a minor part of the requirements.
League position points come from an average over 3 seasons. So I guess its better to come top but that's a small fraction of a point.
The ground, social media, etc will be what gets us back.
Better to stay where we are if you want to see good rugby......or we'll see a possibly winning side going to Keighley for a long time.

It doesn’t sound great, but honestly ask yourself I can’t see us winning a game never mind actually staying up.

He didn’t need to take part in the playing part of the business, something he is completely unqualified for.
