The truth is that we will have a few more lean years unless we strike lucky with injuries and new signings - but that is not a science you can rely on.
I believe the club have decided that they must turn the clubs structure and especially BV around before we can move forward. It's obvious to me.
We could have limped on with the old floodlights and pocketed a 200k + for another player.
We could have shelved the new pitch and put the cash into the team, it's not like it was gash.
We could have done a bodge repair to the Cats bar.
We could drop the Academy, I know we get central funding but its still costs us and as noted we struggle at present to keep what we produce.
Yet all those things will eventually bear fruit. A good income from a pitch that will be of international standard, lit up by lights that actually work. We will have extra changing facilities for women's teams, kids teams and so on. We will have a main stand that if run correctly will generate cash from day one.
I know it's risky but without a free cash injection it's the only chance of long term success, rather than the odd short term thrill.
Murphy is slightly different to most other players at the club, it won't just be cash with him. He will be wanted by every top team in SL, most notably those who win things. It won't just be about money so unless he's another oddity like TJ he will leave at the first chance to join say Saints. In mitigation that would be the same if he were at HKR, Cas or Salford for example, for me if he maintains his form it's Leeds/Wigan/Warrington or Saints (has Saints player written all over him).
I know it's a heresy and I'd not normally say this but if we can't tie him down in the next few month to at least another two years then we should sell him, there will be buyers. A player cash deal would in this case be better than nothing. This is totally contrary to my every belief but odd as it sounds Murphy has probably arrive two seasons too soon.
Just my opinion and it doesn't make me happy, but that was my starting point, at the moment our cake just isn't big enough bit hopefully in a few years it might be
Unless as stated before we get him signed up to a 2-4 year deal as our poster boy, then hopefully we can get a fee for him throughout that if he chooses to leave. I believe his agent is Craig Harrison. Surely it’s a risk going to a so called bigger club so early on, how many times do we see that backfire. The lad has plenty of time to do what he needs to do, he’ll be a big fish in a little pond for as long as he wants. Hopefully he sticks about and in the next 3-4 years we see some real progress with the new stand etc.

I don’t think the club would be long in SL with the strategy suggested by Vastman which would exacerbate the current financial constraints. It is always best to stay in SL than try to get in and yes we could survive years in the wilderness but how many supporters will stay for the journey is highly questionable.
It is quite disappointing that after 25 years in SL this would mean we are back to square one possible even minus one if this was possible.'"
No pimp, it's not my suggestion, I don't have that kind of influence, I'm purely putting out a proposition based on business logic. Reading the situation as I see it, the policy seems to be stay alive and build for tomorrow.
I'm not saying it's right or it's what I'd do, but because unlike you I don't have a ludicrous anti-club agenda I can accept the logic should such a decision be made, any normal person could.
As ever you just rubbish everything yet NEVER offer an alternative. What exactly is the point in you?

That is my wish, it really all hangs on how Lewis feels. If he's a TJ type he will stay and hopefully will feel the benefit of us being a wealthier club in years to come. I don't know the lad so couldn't say how he will react. As I say, our poster boy has probably arrived 18 month to soon, but hey.

My only problem with the club is the lack of on field progress. It would appear you have now been infected with the that permeates throughout the entire club and supporters. This is not a good way to run a business. The new slogan to replace the now defunct “We are in this together” should be “You thought the last season was bad”, a sure fire way to sell tickets.
The alternative I have stated before is try marketing the club and games, be more positive for God sake (more divine intervention) cut out the excuses before we even start the next season. We have reduced the player’s budget following the reduction in the squad so use it wisely and in full bring in some quality that generates excitement because this will help sell tickets. I am sorry but we cannot wait until the ground comes fully online and we have been lucky to cover the loss of our main star attraction with another, selling him would just prove that we have given up all ambition for the immediate future.

If I was short sighted I could become a referee!: |

| It is clear Saints are looking for a replacement for Regan Grace and are willing to buy us new dugout seating in return for Murphy.

He's here next year. The value you'd get for selling him now would not benefit us enough to do it.
Offer him a good deal. And keep him here.

Given his links to Huddersfield who will be looking to replace the likes of Cudjoe and Jerry next year they will make a very strong move for him.
At the moment wing isn’t a key position in our squad. We need to work from the inside out.
Paying big for a winger isn’t something we should be doing even if they are very talented.
Hopefully we can get him to extend without breaking the bank.

Being a positive supporter doesn’t mean you live in blissful ignorance does it.
If you want to want to just blindly hope for the best, you anticipate the worst and then work to avoid it.
I’m on the rose tinted end of the spectrum, but not so much that I dismiss obvious issues.
If you want to Murphy to stay like we all do youd better think of a way and not just hope for the best.
If we can tie him up in the next few months we have a good chance. If we don’t and he carries on in the same vain next season we will struggle. Then they will all be on here moaning as to why the club didn’t do more. Will you be one of those? Hope not.
