Butler has proved he’s not what we need for a relegation dog fight.

| Here’s my line up. Can’t see it being much different. Crowther should start at 13 as he is a very strong defender and Pitts should move there after 25 minutes to allow Tanginoa to attack the right channels in second quarter after some fatigue has set in. Crowther can come back on for Pitts in the second half then.
I feel we would benefit from Bowes playing Saturday. On a fast pitch it would be more beneficial having a nippy 9 than Crowther filling in again. Batch has to play at centre.

Team pretty much picks itself but on a hard pitch in sunny weather I hope we give a nippy 9 like Bowes a shot from the bench.'"
Young bowes had a stormer against saints earlier in the season , even caught out the best in the business and gave Roby the runaround. Very nippy at the play the ball and tackles above his weight .

Completely agree - and Butler was solid against Wigan.
The thing with Butler is that he isn’t flashy. He doesn’t do anything special but he is reliable. Don’t quote me on this, but I don’t think he’s missed a single tackle in all the games he’s played for Wakefield. He’s a solid defender and although he doesn’t make meters like Fifita when carrying, his yardage isn’t bad.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the people slating Butler and don’t believe he should be in the squad or isn’t SL standard don’t understand RL as well as they think they do.
I like the lad and think with more game time will develop into an even better player for us. I think the competition for game time with the addition of Bowden will help with his development and drive too.

Yes I remember him having 2/3 hood games then strangely getting dropped. He then had a stormer in reserves. Hope he gets a shot.

Agree.
There was absolutely no point in signing Butler if we aren't going to play him.
He played well against Wigan running in hard and tackling well. He's exactly what we need in a relegation fight.
Willie will decide of course, but my props would be Fifita, Bowden, Butler and Whitbread (and let's get him signed up for longer)
I agree with others Bowes needs to play. He and Crowther for hooker and Hood to miss out for me.

Had a good game against wigan, you need to start to give players a chance.

Sorry, I know you said don't quote me but I thought I'd look and see if you were right.
As far as I can tell from Superleague website he has played 3 games for us.
Hull - 14 tackles made, 1 Missed
Salford - 10 tackles made, 2 Missed
Wigan - 11 tackles made, 0 Missed
So he has missed a few but not many, and given that he's not played many minutes in those games then I don't think those stats are bad tbh

Also stats don't always give the full story.
Of those 3 tackles did any lead to a try?
Likewise did any of the completed tackles stop a try, and so on.

The only issue I see with Butler is match fitness. If he works on this on and off the field there’s definitely some player in there. He’s had a solid start. I feel a few more matches good pre season will dim the world of good and we could see Butler at his best.
I’m not understanding where this animosity against Hood is coming from though. He’s been perfectly fine imo. He’s also a very strong defender which is useful in early exchanges. Suggesting Crowther at 9 instead of Hood seems absolutely diabolical imho. Crowther is a good 13, play him there.
Hood and Bowes should interchange at 9.

I agree. I'm happy with Hood.
But "dim the world of good"? Are you Voldemort?

Don’t you just love predictive text. It’s just laziness that I don’t spell check on here haha.

| arguably this is one of the games of the weekend for the neutral along with wigan saints - hopefully it will encourage a few along to the stadium early. Im expecting Saturday to have a higher attendance than Sunday, although wigan and saints fans have a nasty habit of only coming and staying for their own games.
Should be a cracker - think nerves will play a big part for both sides though.
