| I was at the featherstone game when he made his debut for us and the newspaper headlines were ‘Ashurst roamed the field like a Colossus’ what a game he had. The best second row forward I’ve ever had the privilege to watch. Proud to have seen him play and talk to him. RIP Bill.

| What a player, a proper ball handling forward.
I half remember a Yorkshire Cup game at Bradford when he sold Mumby an outrageous dummy to score.
He was a member of a great Trinity team, in fact, the last time I thought we could actually win something!
R.I.P. big man.

| RIP. He was just before my time but was clearly a super player. Is there any footage of him playing anywhere? Would love to see some of these skills people have spoken about.

| Amazing player, lovely man and good friend.
The try everyone is remembering was absolute class and genius, he dummied to Dave Topliss and everyone in the ground took it. Even Toppo thought he had the ball.
RIP Bill, the game won’t see your like ever again

He was that good he was named in penrith panthers greatest ever team and he only played for them 2 years. The try I saw him score was at BV he chipped over the full back ran round him caught it and scored, not sure it was Mumby yhough

Pretty sure it was Mumby, it’s a while since I was 16 years old so I may be wrong

Yes we all remember that try. I always say Bill just shook the ball, everyone parted like the Red Sea and Bill stepped through the gap and put the ball down under the sticks.
You need to share your version across all the platforms mate. Hilarious.

Remember that match myself lampy. Never seen an individual control a game as much as he did that one. His first game for Trin as I recall Good Friday. Sadly we lost that day, I think they brought Steve Nash on late in the game and he turned it their way.
