| Ashurst was two years, bad enough but three would have been worse. We gave Crowther a two year contract so i presume he will move up sadly.

| I like Batch, I hope he starts the rest of the year but let’s be honest if he can’t nail a starting spot in our pack at the moment over Ashurst and Pitts then going forward he isn’t the answer to our problems.
His career hasn’t kicked on at Trinity. He was once one of the top rated and most sought after young players in the league, he hasn’t lived up that tag at Trinity, we can debate the reasons for that till the cows come home, but the truth is he hasn’t.
Hopefully he realises his potential if he goes elsewhere because it doesn’t look likely it was going to happen with us.
We have some major issues to resolve in regards recruitment however it’s a great opportunity if we get it right it could be exactly what we need. Big if though.

| Can’t blame any player for signing for another club if they get better terms than they are on with us. Most people in jobs would do this. I also don’t blame them for getting away from a club that hasn’t had any kind of success other than avoiding relegation for years. Our last 2 games are Huddersfield and saints I think. Can’t rely on points there to keep us up. Totally fed up with it but hope I might feel different after tomorrow night !

Nail on head , couldn’t have put it any better myself.
For me the difference between the Batch brothers is one has trained in an army camp and the other in a holiday camp ,I’ll let you make your minds up which one James was in . He’s swapping Willie Poching for Willie Peters ,be interesting how that pans out .

| I always felt TJ would move on after his current contract.. although I think he’s bottled it by not following his espoused NRL dream…
Batch… the writing was on the wall when he only signed a one year contract last year… I keep rooting for the guy but in reality he hasn’t kicked on as one might have expected from his early years….
Milky… simply not captain materiel.. but a decent solid Superleague standard half back!
My main worry is how can the club rely on these characters to fight, fight snd fight again for a club they have decided they want to move on from… have negotiated (a presumably lucrative) contract for next season … and have mentally, emotionally and probably physically, checked out and are waiting for the new pre season…
That’s not the clubs fault! Or the coaches fault!

That can only be realised if you get an offer.

Garden leave was brought into businesses just for that reason

| This squad hasn’t performed for a while with a lot of people labeling the performances as disgrace etc. Aside from the younger players coming through now & the lads are who are Wakey to the core, jowitt etc, I’d let the rest of scuttle off.
You can’t be shouting for their heads one week & then bleat when they leave, let em go!

Slight exaggeration… there are probably half a dozen… but a couple of new ones emerge each year… and some drop off. I always felt at the right club TJ could make an impact…. But as Jon says there had to be suitors to make that happen…

Give over, Only 6 wingers better then Johnstone in the NRL, I can think of 10 off the top of my head who are tried and tested in the NRL and at Rep level over there. Guessing you’re on about Cobbo about the emerging one. It’s not a slight exaggeration, it’s just a fact. Johnstone isn’t even in the England team. He’s a terrific SL when fit and playing, I genuinely think he’d be 10 a penny out there. Just my opinion of course

It’s all about opinions … but I think he has the ability to be amongst the top five or six try scoring wingers in the NRL.. at the right team .. and injuries permitting
Cobbo and May are the two this year so far… and there are lots of one season wonders here in the NRL… burn brightly but burn out quickly.
Ps we don’t have pennies in Australia anymore… even the one and two cent coins are no more…

Greg Eden has a phenomenal strike rate in SL, as does Ryan Hall and Joe Burgess. Unfortunately more to being a winger than just scoring, NRL showed that.

slightly different to the point you make but I did watch Hall and Burgess play live in the NRL in my opinion both went to the wrong club, the chooks play their wingers a particular way and suited neither player (although Hall was returning from an ACL) Neither player decided to dig in... work hard and try to improve... rather hop back on a plane to SL where the going is easier
Burgess was also interesting in that the bunnies picked him up mid season and he scored 5 tries in 9 games and looked well capable of cementing his place, but had already agreed a move back to Wigan.
I don't know Eden's story but he looked capable at the Broncos before flying home (I can only assume it was form personal/ family reasons)
