| I purchased a Platinum season ticket at the start of the season (albeit it was an age concession one) and my mobile phone will send a text if I throw a shovel of coil on it first . On that basis I haven't seen a Trinity match since the restart as I don't subscribe to SKY Sports. I forfeited any refund for the benefit of the Club as I believe 95% of season ticket holders did. So It seems that now there are people complaining about there being no refunds.
Rather foolishly I took advantage of a cheap "Early Bird" season pass for Barnsley FC back in April as I thought all this pandemic business would probably be over. I'm not sure yet what the Club's policy on 20/21 ticket refunds is (if at all). There's one thing for sure though I won't be donating it to the greedy billionaires that own the club.

Yeah that is what is what I had in mind when I labelled it risky TBH Charlie, I guess it is wholly dependant though on where we are at with cash flow and just how desperate things may get for some clubs.

I don't think this is true.
So far one person has complained, on behalf of possibly no one, about the amount of refund.

| The problem with the club’s argument is that the only two games that were exclusively available to season ticket holders were the two on the our league app. With regards those on Sky these were available to anybody who subscribed which means season ticket holders are paying twice.

I'm a happy depressive - the glass is half empty but the bar is open.: |
|
| The club did a 10 year season ticket around 20 years ago (I can't remember exactly when but I know cleverer people than me will) It cost £1000 and I think the going rate for a season ticket was around £100 a season then so it was based more or less on the going rate for 10 years with the saving being on the price increases as years went by. I bought one knowing that the club could be out of business in a season or two and it would be worthless but it was a gamble I was willing to take. I was lucky financially as I won £1000 in a competition so it went straight to the 10 year season ticket, there were more sensible things to do with but I ignored them. Financially I think I'd be able to afford another 10 year ticket if it were offered now but that's because I've not been to a pub for 8 months and saved a fortune by drinking bought in beer

No they didn't. The Sky subscription isn't for rugby it's for Sky.
There were always going to be Sky games so if that was an issue to anyone they knew before they bought the ticket.
Let's face it. You are arguing for the sake of it as you are not affected and you don't know anyone who is.

| Most people who buy season tickets know that they might not get to every game, due to unforeseen circumstances and holidays and moveable fixtures, so it's never really a case of getting a couple of matches free. People do it because they know it helps and they may break even on the deal. No one buys a season ticket because it makes sound financial sense.
I understand that times could be hard for people and they might be desperate for the £100 and I wouldn't criticise anyone for that. If people are complaining, however, that it seems like a rip-off, I'd just point out that this is something so unprecedented that the club should be cut some slack. It's not as if Carter imported bats and caused it just to rip people off.
We still have a club. The club is offering limited refunds but is hoping no one wants them. I hope so too.

| By buying the season ticket early I wonder how many supporters will be willing to forfeit a refund for a second time should the worse come to the worse. The way things are going will we be allowed to watch for the first couple of months?

If people are going to buy a season ticket anyway, the early bird prices make some financial sense, but what I meant was that I don't think anyone truly buys a season ticket because they are guaranteed to be up on the deal, as in reality most people end up missing a game here and there. People on the whole buy them as an expression of their loyalty, or because they know it helps the club, or because they will probably just about break even when circumstances dictate that they miss the odd game.
I don't think anyone thinks, "I can guarantee that I will be at every game, come hell or high water, so it makes prudent financial sense to take the season ticket offer, and that is the only reason." There are other reasons all mixed in.

I can see where you're coming from Slugger, but I think I can honestly say that for the last 40 or so years that I've been purchasing a season ticket that it was for financial reasons, knowing that I would only miss a maximum of two games, usually for holidays. However that does not diminish my devotion to Trinity. It just seemed to make financial sense to me and I'm sure that it did to many other supporters.

I think anyone buying a season ticket for next season must be aware that there is a chance of 2021 being no better as regarding covid. You will be purchasing a membership with the "possibility" of attending some games.
Maybe season tickets bought at early bird prices should be non refundable just to help people make that decision?

| Quote: Dunkirk Spirit "People might try the commit six scheme. Payment is £26 a month x 12 months. I think you get 6 lines on the lottery, and the standard season ticket. That way, the club get a regular monthly income for the following season. I’ve mentioned on here before, a thousand fans paying £26 a month
The Commit 6 is a great way as I - like you - have also said many times DS.
I've won some prizes including the gallon of beer at The Printworks..... and was lucky enough to win the £250 top prize which almost paid for my ticket anyway.
On top of the offers such as a discount at the shop.
