| At the same time the sport has a responsibility for player welfare and Salford have been forced to play injured players due to reduced recovery time which is a result of the congested fixture list due to Covid.
In an ordinary season I’d be all for it. But this isn’t an ordinary season.

What I do find bizarre though is Warrington are still to play, just against Hudds, which potentially leaves them getting 4 points this week.
I fully expect this game against Leeds to be called off, in that case it should have been us playing Hudds not Wire.'"
This been said looking at the Leeds Challenge cup squad against the week before there are only 2 players that cross over so they have the ability to field 2 17`s even if they had a major disaster with track and trace, it is whether or not they are willing to fulfil the fixture.

The Salford one is a forfeit because it is not Covid related.

Exactly this! We played busted for weeks barely able to field a 17 and other teams reaped the benefits of playing a slammed together wakey team that could run only skeleton training sessions.
Now as you say Leeds have almost a full bill of health so if there are a number to isolate from last week they could still field a team like we did.
But with the play off at stake will they play a slammed together team like wakey did?
It should be our turn for the swings and roundabouts (luck) as we actually look to now be winning games now we have almost a full bill of health. Of course I do not wish Covid on anyone.
It makes you wonder but for all the disruption and not playing weakened team constantly vs teams who were lucky not to have positives where we would be in the league.
I highly expect Leeds to not play the game and why would they when we are hitting some form and they may have to stand players down (even if they can put a 17).
Overall it just shows that this year the league is a real lottery and a lot of the league positions are down to how hard clubs have been hit by Covid and how much some teams have benefitted.
I do know that it was also necessery to fulfil the games. Rock and a hard place. But if Leeds have 17 (they haven’t had positive tests don’t forget) then they should play what they have like we did when we had to stand 11 down weeks ago.

That’s good news the game will go ahead.
Best chance we will have to do the double vs Leeds.

One game at a time mate.
FWIW, Catalan still seem in a better position to make the semi finals than Leeds, assuming, of course, that they can complete 15 fixtures.
If Leeds slip up in either of the 2 games against us, they will really struggle to make the semis.
Definitely tough but, given their fixtures and short turnaround from a very tough game against Cas, we have a great chance, especially in tomorrows game.
8 points on the handicap for us, looks good value.

Richard Agar has confirmed to the press that four players who played against Castleford on Monday have been stood down for 14 days because of the contact trace protocol and will miss the next 4 games, so far none have shown symptoms
I wonder if the 4 are pivotal players who will also miss the following Wakefield game. We. are Due a bit of luck v Leeds. Fortunately, the 4 suspects are not showing symptoms at this time.

| Wire get a walkover against salford and a 24 0 win given to them maybe when we were struggling we should have done the same and saved more injuries and a bigger defeat from occuring

I know it's not Warrington's fault, but maybe it might have been fairer to just deduct Salford 2pts without giving wire a leg up they don't really deserve.

| I personally don’t think Salford should be punished at all and I definitely don’t think Warrington should be given the game like that. Unlike Toronto, Salford have tried their best to keep the game going. Yes they went with a smallish squad but they weren’t exactly planning for a worldwide pandemic - who was?

Where exactly has Salford tried to keep the game going, I'm sure you've noticed but I'll remind you just in case, Wakefield has suffered as much as anybody and more in most cases than other clubs regarding having players unavailable, this has resulted in the club having to bring in players they would not necessarily have needed, that is trying to keep the game going and also bringing youngsters into the team which because of Salford's lack of a youth policy they cannot do, but there is a loan system available with plenty of championship players available, they've simply taken the easy option which I doubt would have been the case had relegation been on the table.

| Well it’s hardly practical to bring in players who haven’t trained or played for months. I know we did with Battye but we had other players who could help get him up to speed. Not to mention the difficulty of maintaining “bubbles” and tier restrictions.
Why they went in with a small squad I don’t know. I’m not putting down Wakefield or anyone’s efforts to help the game ticking. These are exceptional times and I believe “traditional” punishments shouldn’t really be applied.
Unless a club does what Toronto does and just packs it in all together. I don’t think Salford want to do that.
