Gilmour is out of contract and was linked with Leeds before the start of the season. Guess he might be off.

Willie remains a hero here so it certainly looks like a good signing to help get fans onside. He has certainly got plenty of experience in the role these days. My only concern though is it is another mate of Chester rather than a completely fresh face with brand new ideas, different to anything he has had before. Hopefully it will work out well but we can all shut up about Chester getting the boot, it definitely ain’t happening now.

I hope it’s just the start of a refresh. A new conditioning team would be my next choice, Clawson has been there since the Agar years and it’s time for a change in that department as well.

I think you might be right about Gilmour, I'm sure I've read it somewhere that he's done at the end of the season and possibly moving to Leeds.

Wille spoke at one of Trinity's lunch clubs a while ago. Spoke well about his time at Wakefield and his time in rl since he left. He was a fans favourite then, hope he continues the same now. Welcome home Willie

From what I hear, and it's no more than hearsay, but we win in that swap.
Poaching is well regarded.

Brilliant news as said was a true legend at Wakefield, hope he can put back the pride and fighting spirt in the club that he brought to the team every time he was on the field

Got to be happy with this. Hopefully get the top spot after Mr Chester steps down.

Excellent news. I said on another post I wished there was a way to bring him to Wakefield. I think his influence will be very noticeable in our future performances

Brilliant, something positive, My sincere thanks to go MC, something had to change for next s eason, my only wish now is a top grade fitness guy with a mandate to get them fit for a full 80 mins @ the speed of saints & Wigan etc, I am very happy with the players we have, they have a chance to learn & be more professional , our players desire should go up - fully.

Who are you blaming for the players perceived lack of fitness, is it the players unprofessionalism or the lack of technique and application of the fitness coach?, one thing they both have in common is they are directly under the influence of the head coach, if it is the fitness coach that isn't up to it then surely the fault lies with the coach and must take responsibility for not replacing him.

Quick question for BLM who knows what’s what. Does Willie still live near you, on the street that sounds like a Tree? I used to see him a lot around here, when he left Trinity to join Leeds, not seen him for awhile now.

Remember talking to Willy on the training ground whilst taking a break when he played for us. His little lad was with him and I asked him if this was the next generation of player, he said nah, heas going to be a golfer.

How do you tell the difference between losing a game through lack of fitness or being beaten by a better team on the day?

To me...if you are right in a game up until the last quarter and then the other team gets well on top and open up a 3-4 score lead then I’d put that down to fitness.

There will always be points in games where players ‘appear’ to look tired if the opposition get repeat set after repeat set. A perfect example of that for me was the recent Cas/Salford game where Cas were absolutely out on their feet 10-15 minutes in...players with hands on knees, taking 2-3 tackles to get back on side and they went 18-0 behind. They showed great character to come back and win that game.

We’ve had plenty of games where we’ve had bad spells and leaked quick points but is that down to fitness? At Warrington we went toe to toe early and after about 20 minutes we were just 6-0 behind. Westerman and Arona went off and in the 20-25 minutes they were both off we’d gone from 6-0 to 24-0 down...fresh players had come on so was it fitness?

Most games we seem to finish pretty well so to me I wouldn’t be blaming fitness. Even if a few look to be carrying an extra few pounds I wouldn’t criticise them either because these are totally different circumstances to normal. They did their usual pre season and 4-5 games in would have been getting their match fitness and all of a sudden we have a 5-6 month break and come back without a pre season and to a game with different rules making it quicker. To call out any player as unprofessional for not being 100% spot on straight away is absolutely ludicrous in my opinion...there will always be players who need to play to gain match fitness...

Sorry the fitness must be down to the conditioner. The one we have now was there when Agar was in charge.Said before the coach who saved us from dropping out of S L first job was to bring in is own conditioner as he said the players were not fit .Hope it's time for a change or we will still be struggling with fitness
