| Quote: vastman "Ten years or so ago it didn't matter how good our form was Hubbs would inevitably make us look like chumps time after time. I think its fair to say that whatever drove that Hudds outfit to muller us with a passion and determination we could rarely match has probably gone now with a new generation of players at both clubs. That particular hoodoo has thankfully gone so this is a more normal game to predict.
This being the case I think Hudds are in a false position - they are not as good as the pre-season pundits made out but they have some handy players to say the least. They also look to be finding a bit of form. So with that in mind we will need our 'A' Game for this one or else we'll get a nasty slap and be bereft of reaching double figures in the League.
Hope we win.'"
Certainly, any side that has aspirations of making the play offs has to win their home games against mid - low table opposition.
I still believe that the London game will bite us on the booty, although we do have another two games against them but, these ARE "must win" games.
I fancy us to win by 8/10 points but, we all know that this is a banana skin and we have to avoid slipping up.

Tbf a number of clubs have now had their bums bitten by London so bad as it was it could have been worse - we were set up for that game as we are against every promoted team, we were not meant to win and we obliged for once.

| I hate games against this false club. For some reason we always save our worst display of the season against this lot. So lets hope we are well up for it and they get their cowbell shoved right up their harris.

Set up or not, this Trinity side is plenty good enough to beat London and something was adrift, either in our preparation of application or both and IF we are serious about being a top 5 side, that isn't actually good enough.
I know that these things can be in the mind but, we have to be more professional and dominate any lesser sides.
All sides slip up at some point and Trinity have very often been the side to beat some of the so called "bigger clubs" but, we cant afford to "sacrifice" points against the likes of London (or Huddersfield) if we want to e challenging at the end of the season.
In the past, the likes of Wigan , Leeds and Saints have been able to field weakened sides or throw some of their juniors in and not worry if they get beaten in the odd game, knowing thet in the long term, they will still qualify for the play offs etc but, at this point in time, Trinity certainly cant "go easy" on anyone. We will need every possible point to make the play offs and hopefully, we will be able to start and accrue some big game experience, which will be vital if we want to progress to the next level.
We need to approach these games as though we are playing St Helens, rather than Huddersfield.

That cowbell does my head in, can't decide which is worse, that or the drum and trumpet corps at Headingley.

Mind you, if getting him there means a win, he should be travelling on the team bus
He's been coming to games since he was about 6, so he knows the pain; now he's away at Uni, he only gets to a few, and only if I'm paying - but the ones he's made this year, we've won - so I'm happy to have him along!
I shall experience a form of Proustian rush at some point during the game - two of his schoolfriends and former junior teammates now play for Shudds and are the size of small houses, which just makes me feel very very old indeed.

| I just like to ask DC/MC if we ever looked at playing this fixture on Saturday evening instead of Friday or did you have no say whatever,Just think Saturdays have so much potential with most people working 5 1/2 days of the week and certainly after the Wendyball season has finished would it be worth looking at.

| Without having to trawl through pages of posts why are our next two home games being played on Friday evenings? We're not on SKY so why is it necassery (sp) to play on a Friday?

Maybe its cheaper I don't know. Or maybe its easier to sell corporate? I'm Sunday all the way but looking at the crowd figure it offers no obvious increase in attendances.

Also, I think that we may be trying to negate some of the impact of the Easter fixtures.
By playing Fridays in the fortnight leading up to Easter, it should (slightly) reduce fatigue levels.
Most of the bigger clubs who use Friday as "matchday" also suggest that Friday is the best day to tap into the corporate stuff, as sponsors can bring their guests straight from work etc.
No as good for getting kids /families there, although at least it's not a school night AND it leaves the rest of the weekend free
Personally, I still prefer Sunday afternoons but, I guess that we get used to routine etc.

It's funny i see it totally different Saturday evening's give you more time in the week to organiser Staff /friends etc for a Saturday corporate event, Them having all day (sat) to get ready for the lovely evening event coming and have a pre-event drink somewhere that's how i do my events.

In my experience, the corporate bit was best done on a Friday night - so it doesn't impact on the weekend; since for most people, RL is not an all day event - some weirdos actually have other interests!
On a personal note, I like a Friday night game - sets up nicely for a few scoops afterwards.

Like i said to Wrencat i see it totally different, Saturday when the Wendyball isn't on from end of may you could make it a totally new experience for hopefully new fans to come on a Saturday instead of having to rush home from work on Friday's rush hour traffic, Compared with a Saturday where you have all day to spuce up and enjoy the event and go round the town afterwards.
