I smell Rodders and his soccer club plan.
Is there any sports club in Wakefield who could potentially pay the 'commercial rent' they seem so keen to apply?
I would suggest this is just WMDC's hand in this game of poker. If they build a stadium, where else are WT going to play?
or maybe it's just a get out clause for their friends at Yorkcourt. £80m of planning gain in exchange for planting some posts in a field and building some changing rooms. Community Stadium sorted.

That's my worry, are they cleverly backing us into a corner, we say no to being anchor tenants, we walk away, the council build three 4G pitches, community facilities provided, council are heroes, Trinity are the greedy bad guys. Job done.

| Why don't we see if they're really serious about building the stadium, agree to play there and negotiate once we are in. That's what other clubs have done renegotiated a more favourable deal once when it's obvious the original deal isn't working.

I'd assume the council would want a signed watertight contract for us to be anchor tenants before construction could begin. Oh the irony.

I wondered that, but what's in it for Manni? No money to be made on a few 5-a-side soccer pitches. The council don't own the land, remember, and the council could probably do that at Thornes Park.

I thought I'd read somewhere that Thornes had been promised to a developer for housing......Now who could that be?

But wasn't Box's comment about building it at Belle Vue? That can only be done if it benefits 88M. How it does so, and the identity of the tenant, is a different issue.
My suspicion is that it is a way of deflecting legal action and a hope that the terms will be negotiated somewhere in the middle.

| If the council are serious about building a new stadium (ha!) then they have plenty of land in their ownership the off the WERR. Why build an asset on 3rd party land when you've got masses right there.

| I just hope that Hussain is as big a knob as I think he is and doent allow us to stay at BV for a single day longer than current agreement which I think runs out on 31 December. Then at last we can get the hell out of BV and Wakefield.

I thought the whole of the land round WERR were earmarked for housing, as I understood the housing companies bought this land for houses and this financed the link road.

| Is it their plan to back MC/trust into a corner. Build the stadium and a new trust appears who have people lined up who are willing to take on the club and pay the unsustainable rent, all in it together.

Ironic isn't it. He kicks us out of Belle Vue and builds on the original site for the community stadium.

While I share your sentiments Belly with sticking the proverbial finger up at those concerned, I am seriously worried that IF we move out of Wakefield, without a firm, genuine future ground in Wakefield then the club will fold.
I will follow them anywhere short term but if there's no hope for WT IN WAKEFIELD, then I'm done.
I'm sure many more are of the same opinion.
This is a saga I have endured like everyone else but you get to a point where you begin to think 'There's more to life" Trinity out of Wakefield, No thanks-not permanent anyway.
