I know several Cas fans who considered last season a success at the time, not least for having Solomona score the most amount of tries

| Satisfied with a good season, but we have not won anything to celebrate. Still will show my appreciation of the effort the players have put in. I thought they were done at the start of the 8's but they well and truly proved me wrong. Individual errors have cost us, certainly not lack of effort.

| individual errors have been a factor but I would say the couple of team performances have contributed more. The two games against Shudds and the loss in the CC v Salford could have changed the whole season. Also that bit of luck would have helped .

| Even if Wigan won on Sunday, you can still pee on their chips, as they still need to beat you guys to get into the 4.
Everyone's shouting that Wigan are favourites now, but in effect they have to win 4 from 4 to even have a chance. Lose to either us or you, and saints beat Salford, they finish 5th.
I'd agree with a previous poster with regard to your season. To even be considering the top 4 in February would've been laughable (no offence)
But for the same token you can't really brush off the last two weeks with that stance.
Wakefield had a tremendous opportunity, regardless of whether it was unprecedented, and unfortunately failed at the final hurdle.
No doubt this season will breed confidence for the next, however it is a rare chance gone begging.
With regard to seeing 2016 as a success at castleford, it's very much a mixed bag for me. Considering the injuries which crippled us all season, finishing 5th, with one of our players breaking the try scoring record and another winning the Albert Goldthorpe medal, there were certainly little victories amongst the mediocrity of winning around 50% of our games.
In hindsight though, the exposure the fringe players got from more game time in 2016 has no doubt put us in phenomenal shape this year as a squad.
Hitchcox, minikin, mcmeeken, springer..... To name a few, were not intended to be in the starting 13 last year, however it's certainly developed their game.
I feel wakefield are where castleford were maybe 2 years ago.
That's not to sound patronising or condescending in any way, our growth on and off the field was equally as unprecedented as yours, and it's equally as good to see for the local game. (albeit my enthusiasm for Wakefield is obviously a little more muted lol)

| You'll not find anyone disagree with you. We could have had a more sucessful season but for a few daft errors in some early games and the width of an upright in the last 2 games. You're right in thinking that we're probably about 2 years behind Cas too, next year the club aim will surely be to finish strongly and push for the top 4 again, and hopefully now the players have played in some big games they'll understand how to manage them better.

| I'm sorry but it does sound patronising. How come we have been presented with a rare opportunity. the clubs worked bloody hard to achieve its position .
Cas have had a great season and have been great to watch but I find it amazing that all of a sudden they have become the measuring stick of success . Huddersfield fans adopted the same attitude a couple of seasons ago so would you say that Cas are probably where Hudds where 2 seasons ago.
Nothings been handed to Wakey on a plate and the sooner our own supporters recognise that fact the sooner we can come to terms with after everything that's gone on just how well the clubs done.
I sense we can expect more patronising comments followed by no offence.
We don't require any kind of simpothy votes .

| To be fair to him, it is a rare opportunity, we've not exactly been banging on the door of the top 4 consistently for the past 10 years, it's been this season. He's also not denied that were improving both on and of the field, which we most certainly are. I would take it as a compliment to say we're a couple of years behind Cas, they spent 4-5 years building something special at their club, and we're just coming to the end of our 2nd year of rebuilding a whole club. Next season we will have more stability with the playing group and more idea how to play in both high scoring games and tight games which will be invaluable if we're to push on as a club

Summed up perfectly for me.

It was a success considering that our captain and Roberts, two of the best try manufacturers hardly played any matches last year.
I went into last year confident of a top four spot if we held on to our first choice line up.
You know one or two cas fans that where happy about last year under the circumstances but overall it was disappointing not to get in the top four

None of what you said has any relevance to what I posted.
At what point did I give Wakefield a sympathy vote?
Two years ago castleford came out of a full rebuild of the club to start becoming reasonably successful considering their (at best) mediocrity for the previous 10 years, both on and off the field.
Which part of this doesn't apply to the Wakefield of 2017?
The people who run the club have built a stable and competitive club.
If you think I'm saying that put of sympathy then so be it. I don't understand it, but I guess some folk will always put a negative spin on things.

| Yes, great season with some great results and rugby, but the fact remains and it is always at the back of my mind, but when the euphoria ends what are we going to do about this bloody ground situation???????? I suppose it'll be the main subject thread on this forum throughout the whole closed season. I don't want to sound an old misery, but everything we have built in the last couple of seasons could come crashing down around us.

| This season is definitely one to celebrate for Trinity. From the moment Chris Chester came in there has been an uplift in fortunes. The quality and style of play has been great to see.
Getting things right at the business end takes a certain hard self focussed mentality of self belief. Castleford are not their yet, we have to wait and see if they are by what they do in their semi final. They have yet to prove themselves.
Having the self belief to win the big one off games is the acid test for all teams.
But Trinity should celebrate because you have come the farthest, had the bigger financial issues and even continuing as a club has been called into question.
So to see the emergence of a real team who are in every game is fantastic. Your journey has started , now you've got to build on that success and take a club with a great history back to the top table. This season is definitely one to celebrate.
