| Quote: PopTart "The thing I liked against Catalan and I hope continues against Widnes is the amount of ball the wingers got.
I know 3 tries were from kick return and dropped balls but the wingers both had good chances whether taken or not.
I've liked the work from the forwards but I think tactically we have stuck down the middle too long. This week showed what we can do and I think we should push it hard.
Great to watch.'"
Couldn't agree more - and even when it doesn't work, it adds another dimension that opposition teams have to defend against.

Between Johnstone and BJB they made 500m and scored 5 tries, if they get the ball then they can both crucify the opposing team through their blister pace and strength. Hopefully the team now have the confidence to get the ball out wide and trust the centres/wingers to do their jobs. I wasn't sure about this tactic of bringing Miller in from the bench but it's paying dividends, he's helping to pull tired defences apart. Hopefully they can take this positive vibe they have into the Widnes game and make Belle Vue a bit of a fortress. I'm certainly looking forward to this game

| IMO Bird is the best player in SL, think it is fair to say he has played at the highest level, not just played but positively effected State of Origin matches. A match winning ball playing, tough tackling, hard running creative forward, whats not to admire about him as a RL player. Nearest I have seen to the great great Bill Ashurst skill set, Bill had a better kicking game. I would even go as far as saying that Bird is probably the best player ever to play SL.

I know, on Beeb sports there is the piece about Wasps wanting to start an SL team, then directly underneath it despite MC saying in it that the subject of clubs possibly relocating was discussed by [iall[/i SL clubs, they still quote him.....nobody else.
The link is made and reinforced right there, because it fits the beebs big news reporting agenda, it would have far less mileage were they not linking one club particularly and reporting it as it actually is, just fluff and rubbish.
Fluff and rubbish isn't news.

| It's hardly a controversial statement to say Greg Bird is the best player in the league. He might be knocking on a bit now but he's right up there at the very least.

Yes he's better than Andrew Johns or Allan Langer....

| I think there's a lot more to come from Huby. The man has a skills and a RL brain, he's shown his quality already and still not firing on all cylinders. If we can get some of our halfs backing him up close to collision the killer offload will come into play.
I like the speed of Hirst's play the ball, keen to get up and get on with things; Fifita's strength, being able to stand with 3 or 4 defenders hanging off. The extra second or two gained with the speed of the rook is essential these days, all the best SL sides are coached to be like this.

You're right and you're wrong.
On reputation and proven ability he most certainly is the best, can't argue that. However even before he got injured he wasn't showing anything special. Thats not to say he would not have but you can't be sure he would either. In terms of skill and running a game then you'd have to say that there have been better at other clubs so far this year.
To be the best in any sport you have to have ability and form at the same time, you cant just have the potential form, loads of players have potential.

| pleased they beat Leigh... we have a terrible record against teams on a long losing run! and we seem to turn in poor or lethargic performances a week after a good one!
or that's the way it seems anyway!
hoping for some consistency this week!

| Another huge game, especially with Widnes being our opposition who many have marked as a bottom 4 team.
With more options in the halves, they had a good win last week (against Leigh) and I expect another close game.
Last week, with more clinical finishing and we should get home but, any win will do.
More important than ever as well.
The more successful we are on the pitch, the more we have to fight for.
Come on Trin !

| Agree it's a huge game for us (also for them) & a win will put us well placed in the League for the busy Easter schedule.
We've managed to make comeback wins in 2 games after poorish starts. Although we played much better against Catalans, we can't get complacent or sloppy & revert back to that. We need to hit the ground running tomorrow and I wouldn't be surprised if CC's pre game team talk will revolve alot around a strong start, keep the errors down and complete the sets. Seems fairly obvious to say, but get the big forwards making the meters down the middle, with a strong defence & that will create the room & field position for the halves to enable our backs to do the business.
Widnes played well last week & got their first win and they'll be coming to Belle Vue for the 2 points. Anything less than a good start and they will start to fancy it and it'll turn into a arm wrestle.
