| Quote: bellycouldtackle "Who is going to do your tackling Vasty, As England found out with playing both Burgess twins having 4 huge men fill your 4 x prop positions means that in most cases you are vulnerable to the quick play of the ball scoot type play that is prevalent in SL, plus in general the big boys get tired and again your defense suffers, that is why props of less stature who defend well, are quicker back in the line, normally play longer are vital in the 17. Now As said I have not seen Allgood but he is a big unit In my opinion England, Huby, Fififta, Algood and Hirst will be competing for three spots, Anakin , Arona etc will be competing for the 4th prop position, ie a more athletic role rather than a beast who carries.'"
Even if I agreed with that philosophy or thought that Anakin was especially gifted at tackling it still doesn't hold up. Following your logic then why not play Webster or Arona who both offer more at prop. As I say let it go for your own sake.
I hate having to deride a player I actually like to prove a point but your attempts to make him into a latter day Bell or JT does him no favours - the world has changed.
Finally last years two best teams Warrington and a Hull had huge packs so please tell me who the 5'8" props who were the cornerstone of there defence?

| Be happy with those two.
the Scott Moore situation is an ongoing headache I'm not sure how we are going to resolve though, if he goes then we must sign a specialist hooker.

| I would suggest any second row options would only be if they improve our stock. We don't need to rush for numbers.
Assuming we sign these 2 props, only the hooking role remains to be resolved IMO.

| Yes, I would agree with that TRB.
As for the argument of large units in the front row, I see the argument from both.
A bit front row unit is less likely to be dominated by the larger backs, but bigger units do struggle sometimes defensively, in getting low. Some have a tendency to struggle in bending backs as easily, it is about body shape rather than laziness.
I liked Arona, and ended up as our top tackler. As a club that leaked points toward the end of last season, this shouldnt be ignored. Maybe have your big units in the front row, with maybe Arona, moving into the second row, with Ashurst, and Sio at loose.
If Arona was to be used as a back rower, that could solve the back row issue, just leaving a hooking spot to possibly fill, but who?

| While we're talking Scott Moore, does anyone know if he's been training with the squad? I wondered if he'd been put on "gardening leave?"

| Think he is on Community Service leave, Wakey council are using him to mentor children in Cas on how to steel cars, drive while drunk, avoid arrest, take drugs, not take responsibility, get the best out of benefit system, getting tasered and beating up the police. Wakefield council want to make sure that the skills set in Cas is not diminished.

| Scott Moore last heard of suspended and under investigation by club - presume we wait for his bail to be answered on the 8th before the club will be in a position to make a decision.

| If both Huby and Allgood join I think we'd have the biggest pack we've had since 2010. Of course it isn't just about size...Charlie Leaeno was big but soft.

| 6'4" & 17st 7lbs +
Hirst
England
Fifita
Allgood
Then there's
Huby 6'2"
Walker 6'0
Arona 6'0
Not a small pack by any means.
I'd have liked us to prise Mullaly away from Leeds, who don't seem to rate him

Fifita is about 18 stone 7llbs.
Allgood is tall at 6 foot 4 inches but IMHO he is by no means really heavy at that height at 17 stone so if the quota spot becomes available he may be a good acquisition having some experience in the second row. His stats for last year show he was very strong defensively and seemed useful going forward in a weak KR team. Arona can then focus on a more effective position for him at 13. Met Arona and he is the same height as me 5 foot 10 tall but is a genuine stocky 16 stone.
Seeing a fit Huby (of 2 years ago) competing with England, Fifita, Hirst, Allgood and Walker for the front row positions at Trinity would be a very healthy position to be in.
After the Charle Leaeno comment I ended up reading this old thread from 6 years ago and it was interesting seeing the players names mentioned and the issue around imports v Uk players....

| Yes I would have liked that too.
It would have been interesting had Andrew Fifita and James Graham came to Super League and as to where they went and if there was any fall out with players being shunted out to make room on the respective salary caps.
Personally though I think they will stay in AUS

Don't recall us ever having a pack as big as this, certainly not 4 players at 6'4" and 17 stone. I'd say Fifita is the biggest player we've ever had at nearly 19 stone but may be wrong on that.

I agree, I don't remember a pack with this much size,
Andy Kelly 6'4" & Bill Ashurst 6'3" were in the same team but don't remember anyone else that size at the time.
Andy Kelly and Mark Graham 6'4" but again they were the only two of that height but Graham was nowhere near 17 stone
Darren Fritz 6'3" but pretty much on his own as a big man in the pack
Probably the nearest we've come is the Grand Final winning team with Wayne McDonald 6'7" Francis Stephenson 6'2" but the team also had the likes of Josh Bostock 6'3" & Adam Hughes 6'2"
Not sure if McDonald and Chris Feather 6'5" played together though
Anyone else who's got a better memory than me might say different

Hickey?, but I'm not sure about the player bit.

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.: |
|
| Allgood will be a good acquisition for you. Good in defence, reasonable engine, brave and a strong direct runner but not an offloader or a big biffer like Fifita. Can also play at loose forward. Only negative is his temper. Easy to wind up and volatile. On a bad day he is a penalty machine.
