It is a good signing for the Cats and shows that you can get decent NRL talent albeit toward the end of their career.

I think Lewis was the biggest draw ever as an overseas signing. He had more star quality than the rest of the competition put together at the time.

Sam Williams may well prove to be a great signing Vasty, I believe he will be. I love to see the very best overseas players sign for SL clubs for the good of SL. Bird is a great player, not a player with potential, or a player who struggles to get first team in Aus, or an old knackered Aussie looking for a final pay day, or a young lad looking to make a name for himself, we are talking about a world class top player in SL. He is head and shoulders the best Aussie signing for some time. Can you remember the play off game against Catalans a few years ago Vasty when Bird graced BV with a fabulous performance. Typical Wakefield there was about 1200 Wakey fans for a home play off game , evening kick off, we were a good side then and simply had no answer to Bird, one of those occasions where proper RL fans raised their hats to him, he beat us with a sublime display. Whilst those of us who can appreciate good play from the opposition were applauding him you were probably blaming the officials for our loss or were to busy trying to get Teds autograph to have time to watch the match

For the record there was just over 4000 to watch that elimination game against Catalans in 2009. That means there were about 3980 Wakey fans there.
The worst thing about that playoff game, apart from losing is that we'd just beat Catalans, Greg Bird and all at their place 2 games before.

I seem to remember Ted saying to Vastman, or maybe he told me himself, Ted that is that the actual crowd was less that 1300, but that they could not report the actual figure for fear of ridicule. So the reported figure was just a load of nonsense

I was there and there certainly wasn't only 1300 there, that certainly is a load of nonsense.

I too thought immediately - who have we signed! a bit deflated when I saw it was a top signing for Catalans.

I was at the home play off game v Catalan in 2009. There was definitely more than 1300 there but I don't recall a master class by Bird to the same level as Steve Ella many years ago v Wigan or Shane Tronc v Leeds etc....

I recall Catalan running over the top of Trinity in that play off game and the Trinity players not turning up...

I'd also put Solomona in this category.
He was a great signing ant absolute quality when he came over here.

I never got to see Lewis so, Solomona is the best player I've seen in a Trinity shirt

Ray Price for me along with Solomonas but Solomona let us down by jumping ship so tainted his image, 3 years retired and was worth the entrance fee just to watch him.

Sums it up in a nut shell armadasa , 1300 where these posters come from God only knows. I did a trial commentary on that game from the flats and I can assure you there was more than that.
