I can see some arguments against certain players - Ferres and Watkins for starters - but not Ratchford; he's class.

I'll defend Ferres here. For some reason Ferres comes alive in an England shirt and always troubles the Aussies and the Kiwis.

I agree form needs taking into account and his has not been great all be it in a poor team however a proven track record at this level is more vital IMHO.

Ratchford has good form. He's my first choice for full back.

Agree, I'm not sure what the big deal is tbh. Sure you could argue a couple of positions but there's nothing too left field.
Ferres raised an eyebrow but like someone else mentioned he'd played really well in an England shirt, even when his form in 2015 wasn't great, so will have got points for that. If Currie was fit wouldn't be in and ateotd won't play, Watkins is the only other one that you'd question but it's down to that lack of anyone else that's quality. Atkins would have been a better shout on form imo.

I thought Ratchford was excellent in the GF, his defense and positioning were second to none. Shaul would have been a good shout, with his pace from the back but I'm not sure he has the all around game of Ratchford and is certainly not as versatile.

Just looking at the squad again it's good to see he hasn't picked O'Loughlin, who many thought would get picked because he's Captain.
