| That's the remaining home games up to Round 23.
After that hopefully all our games will be against top 8 teams so more potential for big crowds

| Good to see Ashurst retained. His take of that short pass from Miller yesterday and the subsequent angled run was the try of the day for me.
Think Scruton to KR on a two year contract is a done deal. So no doubt CC will already be looking for a replacement.
Would release Walton to be honest.

Interesting piece from Mr Chester in this weeks League Express regarding recruitment for next season, and perhaps another player for this season as well.

| Quote: les-goose "Of those leaves I can See
Bishop - unless someone offers him a full back role - Renew
Hall - with the form he is in and Chester being coach - Renew
Scruton - Rumour KR but also in good form and enjoying it - Renew
Anderson - Think he will head back down under
Kirmond - Starting to get back towards his best now he don't have to play busted - Renew
Howarth - Good squad player wont be on a fortune enjoying it here - Renew
Tansey - Not getting a look in - Leave
Yates - Same as Howarth - Renew
Walton - Got the odd game also not on a fortune cover centre/second row - Renew
What a somewhat settled squad for next year without a load of players going and a load coming in cant be us we are talking about can it ?'"
FWIW and for the future I'll be a little harsher...
Bishop - there is better out there for the money IMHO - Release
Hall - it's been fun but to many flaws - Release
Scruton - He's still OK - Renew
Anderson - There is better in the NRL - Release
Kirmond - He may need to re-invent himself as his pace has totally gone but he's a great defender - Renew
Howarth - cheap and cheerful - Renew
Tansey - don't rate him, he's another Hall - Leave
Yates - Same as Howarth - Renew
Walton - Great utility value - Renew
The release of Hall and Bishop would allow us to sign a real quality half back without causing much damage in the backs. I love Finn but time will catch him up in the end so we need to be looking now.

| Got a feeling we may just be filling our last overseas spot quite soon and sorting out that extra bit of punch that the coach feels we need to compete with the 'big' teams.

| Vasty, can understand your reasoning. IMO we have proven that pace kills teams. Our backs have bags of it. For that alone I'd keep both Hall and BJB. We are so potent from deep it's a real worry for other teams. Hall with an extended run in centre has proved his value to us IMO and BJB would need to accept he would be on the wing and on reduced terms. I think Anderson not renewing would free up the cash for a quality half. Controversial but I'd still like another centre to partner Hall as I just haven't taken to Arundal

| I'd be looking to show the door to BJB and Anderson one way or another, can't imagine either of them being on peanuts. Tansey I would probably keep on, again working on assumptions about contract value. Rest I would look to keep if we can do so without breaking the bank.
Ashurst news is very good and Carter needs praise (for listening to Kear and/or Chezzie ), along with Howarth he's one of the most underatted in the team for me and any side like ours needs a number of players of this ilk.

| Although Walton and Howarth have the versatility, just dont think either are quite good enough for this level. In Walton's case when fit, we have substantial cover at centre and second row. As for Howarth, we have Moore and Sio, who are better hookers.
Also, if we were to bring in an extra half back, Finn can also play 9, as can several halves these days.
As for Hall and Tansey, I would keep one, but not both. Personally, I prefer Hall.
If Scruton is a done deal, and we have Hirst coming in, then that leaves Anderson. Although he hasn't featured much, will need to be replaced. Are there any other good English front rowers who wouldn't take up room on the quota spots, to save them for a decent half back and centre.
Walker and Yates, I am not sure about, haven't really seen enough of them to either impress or disappoint me.
BJB had a much better game yesterday, but contract renewals aren't, or shouldn't be awarded after one decent performance in about 15

| Is BJB on a one year deal? If so he better get his finger out or he may struggle to get the same level of wages on his next contract

Andersons replacement will hopefully be here this season, with the quota spot becoming available again for halfback cover at the end of the season when Anderson goes home. Also don't bet on Hirst definately coming in.

Here you are.
WTW head coach Chris Chester has revealed that talks have commenced with potential new recruits, and hopes to add to his squad before the start of 2017.
The club has held discussions with players across the world, with Chester targeting more punch across the field.
With Wakefield being one of the few clubs not currently spending up to the salary cap Chester has room to manoeuvre, and he is hoping at least one player will join the club for the current season.
We are in negotiations with players in super league, and a couple in the NRL Chester told league express.
We're hopeful we can bring someone into the squad this year that can not only have a big impact on us but the super league too, and we want to attract other players that can provide a bit more quality that we've possibly lacked this year.
He also stated that we had no interest in Mr Chase.

And yet Arundal has been a key part of our winning run.
I like him. Of course if we signed Jamie Lyon or maybe Greg Inglis I'd say good bye ...... and that would work as far down as a Sid Domic (Who was a top quality signing for us) but I don't look on him as being a weak link any more. I think he has improved drastically under Smith and then Chester, so it will be good to see if he can progress even more.
Sometimes you need steady over glossy

With regard to Scruton and Anderson leaving. if they both leave then that's a hell of a lotta experience gone from the front row and with all due respect to Keegan Hirst he's not got that SL experience. So I feel that we need 2 experienced props to replace like for like in a position where that quality (experience) for me is vital. For example, look at Leeds (if we must), the players out of their pack who they lost at the end of last season ie 2 props and a referee/pivot, did they replace them?
