That was Ellis too - he was also mickeying on gravestones on the way to the game, and dancing on the toilet roof; the lad's gone right off the rails since he went to 'Ull.

But I wonder if we had enough grunt up front with the yardage their forwards made through the middle in the second half? Could we have done with an extra prop on the bench instead of a second rower?
I was thinking about that when I saw the team sheet. But in the end decided it was probably best to try and play around their pack than get into a slug fest we would probably lose.
One thing that I found baffling was that when we were on top, nearly all the good work came down the edges (highlighted by Gibsons hat trick and Kirmo's barnstorming try) and yet in the 2nd half we kept driving up the middle into their big guys.

Must admit I was bursting as I walked through the cemetery. Unfortunately I couldn't find a headstone with the name Silverwood on it.

| The omission of Brown should be a great advantage to Trin. he dictates the majority of the Widnes play in much the same way as Danny B does (or did)at Shudds. A win for our lads!!!!

(Eddie mode) Another win for Wakefield against an injury ravaged Widnes side shorn of it's stars.

I'm happy to play injury ravaged opposition every week, either in SL or the Challenge Cup
If they are really short of players, I'll take a "walkover".

| Every team we beat has an excuse; I particularly like the injury one, which seems to imply that we have some mystical layer on of hands on our medical team, who keeps our players at peak physical fitness, while teams around us are dropping like flies.

Agree. I look forward to the day when the 'experts' say that Wakefield won as they are a good team, without making excuses for the defeated opponent. I suspect we'll have a long wait.

| If I was an outsider looking in I would tend to think that Wakey hadn't really beaten any team that others hadn't. Leeds H K R and Shuds beaten by most. Salford in hit and miss form and Wigan well beaten with a number of players out. A wins a must against Widnes with early form left behind them. It also p
uts the first double of the season to bed

| I think this is a massive game for us. It is the type of game we need to win if we are to be in the top 8 come the split.
Brown being out for them is handy as he is their best player but they have the advantage of the pitch.
For some reason my heart says we will win but my head says we will fall short. I reckon that in will be 32-22 to Widnes.

| Widnes have played very well against us in last two seasons, they are a well coached team with pace, they have stuffed us in the recent past with and without Kevin Brown. I think they have threats across the park and in Mellor and Hanbury they have two great players to watch. I think in the past they have exploited our previously lazy defence. They now face a happy Wakefield team who are giving their all to the cause. I expect a really good game as both clubs will see it as a must win if they are to push for a top 8 position.

| I agree Belly
An undercooked team or a team with no will to win (as we have been before) are easily undone by Widnes for a lot of points.
Before our slump we often got good results at Widnes. I think we will enjoy the hard ground again with this team.
I look forward to it, but it won't be easy. Anyone that thinks we'll win just because they are missing Brown will get a shock. We need to be the best team and especially in defence.

| Hanbury always has a field day against us; someone should take a leaf out of the Gareth Ellis book of Kung-Fu, and get right into him early doors, and keep doing it until he's had enough.

Just like Dorn and Yeaman, Hanbury nailed on to score against us.
