| Times like this when you remember all the people who bagged Club 1873 as a failure because we didn't have 9 academy players in the first team six months after it's inception. Almost as if it takes a bit longer than that to revamp a youth setup....

Sometimes you have to go with what's in front of you rather than potential. With only two out of his five games so far against SL opposition Jowitt still has a lot to prove but I agree he looks good. Johnstone on the other hand has played 25 games over two seasons (started at 1icon_cool.gif for one of the worst Trinity teams ever and has scored 16 tries. That's more than one a game and to me that says it all and after yesterday utter brilliance is now proven beyond doubt for me.'"
Jowitt has played against Saints, hullx2, and Hudds. 2 games in the qualifiers v Sheff and Fax. Made his debut in 2014 in a seriously under strength side away at saints. Went well too.

| Think Bjb will struggle to get back in Jowett was fantastic. Last year away at Hull it was like he had played there for years. Amazing what a win can do! Things looking positive again

I'd need to check with Trinity Heritage, but I don't think Johnstone played at 18. Pretty sure he was at least 19 as he was a bit of a late developer!
Otherwise, yes, whilst he was always raw, there has always been something special in Tom and with a heart the size he has the future is very bright indeed!

Indeed, but then that is why I picked 18 as the benchmark - to leave Johnstone out of it!
Both fab players with tons of potential!

Couldn't have put it better myself. Was my man of the match before they announced it. Having that certainty at the back seemed to give Salford problems in where to kick and what to expect from it.

| The self-assurance of a seasoned SL player - safe as houses and put his mate away for two scores. Brilliant.

Consumate is the word!
Normally a F/B is either a good attacker or defender or has safe hands. Rarely do you find a player who though not outstanding at any of them is very good at all three which IMHO makes him an excellent F/B. Before anybody takes offence think about what I've just said - he's not exceptionally fast like Johnstone is or Hall can be, there are possibly a few better tacklers out there and ditto safe hands. However I can't think of anyone in SL ot the moment who's as good at all three as Jowitt appears to be on his last two outings.
I'll put it a better way,
Jowitt Attack 8, defence 8, Safety 8 = 24/30
Big club player X Attack 10, defence 6, Safety 6 - 22/30
It's only Jowitt by 2 but in a game often won by inches that's a big difference and I know which players stats I'd want.
Well doen Max.

I think an on form Zak Hardaker is the benchmark in terms of all round fullback ability in superleague, although even he seems to have been bitten by the Leeds decline this season. Jowitt has matched his all round ability in his couple of games this season so far.
But i'd add one more category to your list, and that is attitude. I've yet to see young Max Give up on a chase, duck out of a challenge or going hiding where the hard yards off the line are needed. He beats the aforementioned Hardaker hands down in this department. He's still raw and his reading of the game without the ball will continue to improve over time but for a lad with under 10 first team games under his belt he looks scarily good.
