| Welcome on board Chris, you've got my backing.
It would be nice to see a few others do the same and get behind him rather than sit there whinging all day.

| I don't really know that much about Chester, but I can see a similarity between your Club and mine, Salford. When Harris got the boot every fan wanted a big name in to replace him, and what we got was a local lad, Iain Watson with minimal experience at the helm, and an old wise head, Tim Sheens helping to steer him. A lot were skeptical but it's been a revelation for us both on and off the pitch. Both have complimented each other really well so far.
I can see Kear being the wise head to help out Chester. Hopefully they can do what Watson and Sheens has done at Salford and really start to pump in some enthusiasm and good old hard work to see you gain momentum again in SL.
Good luck, and stick with your Club, they need the fans to buy into it now more than ever.

| I don't mind the Chester appointment, I am hoping he will be able to put a rocket up the players because that is what they need. The problem I see with Chester is that our main issue is defence and that was also KR problem under Chester so I am interested to see if he can put it right for us.
As for Kear, I agree that the club needed a rugby person making decisions high up because MC has openly admitted that his knowledge is limited. I think it is a good role for Kear to work in as his knowledge of the game is excellent but I do worry as to what could happen to the youth development.
Overall I am relatively pleased but the one task Chester has is to keep us in the division.

| I would have thought that some people could of resisted negative comments when a new coach is taking over. How would they feel if people were sticking the knife in before job even started.I really do wonder if some on this forum actually do support the club. They certainly do seem to get perverse pleasure from being acutely negative

| Well, let's see what happens. Could give us a boost.
When Hull KR were good I liked how they played. We have some good players here who, if directed correctly could do well.
One good motivation for Chester is to stay above Hull KR
I certainly like the idea of Kear being back. He should have got this senior role last time rather than bumping him out.

This is what we need and hopefully Chris & John can do the same as Salford have done and improve all over the place,And for MC this is what he needs a man like JK to guide him along with the club , So for me it's a great appointment with having Chris on board with JK both local lads and will know the passion we have for the club so bring it on up the trin.

| Can't say who I wanted and don't know who applied so I am happy to get behind Chris Chester and give the guy a chance. I just hope he's strong enough to give the players a rousting and instill some pride back in the badge. I think he will be so let's get behind him.

Sorry mate but this sums up what's wrong with the mentality of Trinity fans and I know you're one of the better one!
I don’t know Chris Chester other than he speaks quite eloquently on interviews.
He has a one year SL coaching history which can only be viewed as mixed. He had a season average of 52% wins or 1 in 2, jeez what we’d give for that. He also got his team to Wembley on his first attempt so again not bad. That said he had a much team or certainly a better resourced one.
His only real error for me was not picking his CCup team on form instead relying on an injured player, that said Leeds were not going to be beaten by anyone on the day Sinfield and Peacock hung up their boots.
His dismissal from HKR seemed hugely premature by any standards. If the lad still has the enthusiasm and has learned lessons from last year he will be a better Coach second time around.
One things for certain, he knows the local scene which IMHO is crucial for a club like ours.
He also seems to suffer from a perceived slight against Trinity some years ago as a player. This seems to revolve around him rejecting a move to his home club whilst at Hull. Seriously can you blame him.
He may not be the coaching giant that Smith was but for decks sake can we just give him a chance before condemning him, for the life of me I can’t see what he’s done not to deserve that courtesy.
I know it’s nit the way of some on here who just seem to take pleasure in slagging off just about anyone who isn’t Wally Lewis. However doing so is utterly counter productive in my opinion as the choice has been made.
As for Carters decision, well at least he made one and he made it quickly and that IMHO is what was needed before the rot was allowed to set in any further.

| A good appointment under the circumstances, realistically which SL coach would want to come here in our current situation the alternative being to take a chance on an assistant who we'd probably have to pay compo for with little experience, Smith and Powell did not apply apparently so imo we've got the best and most experienced available.

| I have no issues with Chester at all, if any, is he experienced enough.
Personally, I thought at Hull KR, he was given the boot a bit too early. Their injury list is probably worst in Super League at moment. They didn't lose to Cas, which there isn't many teams that can say that at the moment. In the two years he has been at the club, they have been in a battle for the top 8, without any threat of relegation, and also taken them to Wembley. Don't think this is a bad start to a coaching career, he hasn't dropped a level to earn his stripes in coaching.
With our situation, we needed a quick fix, as no one wants to go through games with a caretaker coach, and are looking to improve in the long term, by bringing back Kear with his knowledge. Maybe during his last year at Batley he can unearth some young talent from the championship.
I just wish also that Kear could come at the same time as CC

| For me it's a couple of decent choices along with Richard Kelly heading up the youth dept we've got some decent RL knowledge/experience at the club off the field.
