| I dont know if anyone here goes on Love Rugby Leagues facebook page at all.
I was on there last night, and having read the comments on there, there were about 70-80% who said there was nothing or not much wrong in the tackle. If it was as bad as what they were claiming, then with the ban for Boudebza, the RFL have left us with a benchmark now for the season, which they need to be consistent, which I very much doubt.
I do not condone, in any way, dangerous play in rugby league or any sport. I have played the game myself, and have had knee ligament injuries in the past, and also broken bones due to dangerous play

| The camera angle on the SL show wasn’t the greatest and in my opinion from that angle the tackle doesn’t look that bad.
What you don’t see is where Boudebza actually makes contact. If there’s should contact with the back of the knee it is reckless. He could have gone higher with the impact and slid down to effect the tackle without any issues for Shenton.
What we can’t see from any angle is the intent Boudebza has to cause an injury. In my view it was a reckless challenge but that’s just me.

The panel must think the same as you do, they've given him a 4 match ban twice what they would normally give.

They are appealing the sentence, regarding Wigan, their coaches brought the full on contact into the England training the day before the game in the U18s.It's just the mentality, train hard, play hard,no matter what cost.

| Matty Peet can't do that unless Andy Kelly says it's OK, so while the Wigan coach can bring that suggestion to the table it can't be put down to just the Wigan mentality because the coaching team have to agree on it as a group.

What I was getting at Avenger was that there were injuries from training at that intensity which affected individuals performances on game day whoever sanctioned it.It's not a method I'd use so soon before a game but if it was a Wigan influence then it's worked for them over the years.

| I think under definition it has been classed as "reckless rather than malicious"
I think reckless is a strong word, I think it was just clumsy.
For me, seeing it live I saw absolutely nothing.
From what I can see he's gone well above the knee - perfectly legal - and the grapple between Shenton and the two initial tacklers, as well as the surface conditions, has lead to boudebza losing control of his body weight and landing on the back of Shentons knees as he went to ground.
The extent of the injury is irrelevant when judging the tackle unless it's malicious (for example, ben flower in the GF 2014)
A reckless tackle is usually a grade B which seems fair.
To the gent who said his opinion of powell has gone down - I'm obviously going to defend our coach, but his captain has been put out for the season in game week 1 by a clumsy tackle, and he was asked his opinion on it after.
His words were "it was a really poor one"
I don't think that constitutes a rant - in fact I'd say he held his emotions rather well when you consider the above.
He was hardly going to be overjoyed, or say "oh well these things happen".
I'm sure he appreciates that it wasn't malicious, but can you really disagree with him when he went on to say that the technique needs addressing to prevent further serious injuries?
Nobody wants to see players out for 6/9/12 months or retire early, and the more the RFL can do to stop that the better.
Powell never said that boudebza should be dragged over hot coals, he is entirely correct in my opinion that it highlights a problem in the game.
You guys say yourself there were 2 similar tackles in your match - so that's potentially 3 players out for the season.....
I have said for a while that the injuries to players each season is going up due to the tackling techniques coached into teams.
Applying grappling, wrestling etc to our game is to the detriment of players health.
The idea of wrestling (I don't mean that WWF rubbish) is to incapacitate your opponent by several means, the main one of these being pressuring joints.
That can only lead to further injuries the more these techniques are applied

100% correct - and I won't be convinced that it isn't coached; it is.
