If you can read anything into friendlys and think they're the be all and end all then at least we know we will be above Widnes Wigan and HKR this season then. It was a friendly against a full strength cas team who are a lot better than us on the pitch at the moment, we will learn a lot from that game to work before the real season starts. What is it a couple of signings and the deluded doom and groomers expect us in the top 4. We are aiming for 8th and today's result will have done us good in preparation for the season.

Castleford's line speed was excellent for the full 80 mins bot in attack and defence and we struggled to make any yards for most of the game plus, their kicking game, albeit from better field position was far superior to us but, this was just a pre season run.

Wigan wont be losing too much sleep about their reverse against Salford

A little bit of a reality check today. Cas were comfortably the better team and it has shown us that we have a good few areas to work on in the next fortnight. No need to panic, friendlies often churn up some strange results but it certainly stops a few that were getting carried away with our chances this season and will remind the players that it will be a battle royal this season.

Don't take long does it . I bet certain people couldn't wait for a loss. Still that's what you expect on the Wake board.

What is clear is that there is some work to be done over the next 2 weeks to try and close the gap with other Super League teams...from today's result we still seem a distance away.

Having not gone today what let us down.

Wakey will be a better team than they were today 4-5 weeks down the line from now, when they get a bit more cohesion. Cas are a settled side and it shows, Wakey have a lot of new faces that still need to "bed in" and that isn't an instant process.

If there's anything you should be "concerned" with it'd be conditioning, Cas looked bigger & fitter for the duration...fitness is going to be a big part of it early on with heavier pitches.

Just remember it was only a friendly though, no points gained or lost from it.
