| Madge always referred to her younger clientele as "My little darlings". At one point I believe she was married to a police officer - Sergeant Keegan.

| To get the thread back on topic
Did anybody go in the original old Alfred Moodies when it had the sawdust down and spitoons? Moodies and The Old Globe down Westgate were always good places to find a quite corner if you were a bit young.

Went to the original Moodies plenty of times, can't remember the old Globe.
I'm gonna start an independent thread on this particular topic, if not allowed please delete it, if not could a mod move some of these off topic references into the new thread, cheers.

| We used to do Moodies then over the precinct to Yates, queued for 15mins in an airport type system to get a Dock of Australian white wine, it was awful, probably the equivalent of the yoof of today buying shots.

Was that opposite Intercon/Raquels? If so it was originally a basement delicatessen called Hughes. The stairs had mirrors both sides. Used to go with mi mam to buy salami and similar foreign stuff.

Ok Poptart, if it's too much hassle leave it, a few have posted on the thread so should make this thread about the players again.

| The Globe pub stood at right angles to the Smiths Arms
Next door on the corner of Ings Road was the Harlequin Cafe
Between the two pubs was the gate to the mill Patons & Baldwins or Hayley's can't remember ...
