| Quote: vastman "A few month back on the VT some rabid poster was complaining how often we’d avoided the bullet and how we needed to be flushed out of SL. He/she stated that we must be the cat that’s used all it’s 9 lives. Much as I wanted to it was hard to argue with him/her.
So as a matter of interest just how many of our lives have we used up since we were last properly relegated in 1986/87 (I think).
Not just last day hobbies but must win games. For example I recall in 1989/90 season (I think) that we had to beat Halifax in the penultimate game. If we lost it would not have been possible to have overcome their superior points difference or something like that.
Over to you stats guys.'"

How very convenient for you, yet you still remember the other bit

Regarding the number of lives, the answer is, as many as it takes.
Trinity's USP over the past 25 years or so, has been to survive against all odds in the top flight.
The Crusaders pulling out of SL was massive.
This season against Bradford and the great escape under Kear are the biggest moments and having to win away at Salford on the last day to survive 2001 ?
This season's escape seemed to upset some of our "friends" over t'common, which added an extra layer to the pleasure of staying up.
They couldn't wait for us to finally be relegated but, it wasn't to be.
It doesn't matter what is thrown at the club, on field or off field, we seem to have a knack of getting through and defying the odds.

And before you come back, one of my work mates if a Wakey fan and he turned up and was told it wouldn't be open and he talking to the Sky Sports reporter who was there.
That really sounds like a club that was aware they were staying put
The world had come to gloat at Wakefields ejection from SL but, it wasn't to be.
You don't open the draw bridge when you are under siege

| 2001 – Beat Salford to put Huddersfield down.
2002 – Beat Warrington & Cas went to Salford needing to win to get in top six. Salford down.
2006 – Cas
2011 - Administration under Ted
2012 – Dear John letter from Crusaders
2014 - Dear John letter from Glover
2015 – Bradford.
I've added a couple of extra ones. Looks like we're on the last one.

So who do we believe - me the voice of reason and well respected member of the forum - or you
a person who willingly admits to coming from Castleford.
Let's have a double submission on that one aye
Not my imagination that's playing tricks here King of the Forums... Of course I am from Cas...drrrr.
Great business/PR decision by your "Director friend" then not to open the club and take the opportunity to get extra revenue like ALL the others did.
Your club were prepared for the worst, you know it and I know.
Yes of course there are people that would have liked you to go down, but for gods sake don't start feeling sorry for yourselves when people say it, as I will never forget the abuse and yes physical violence in "that game" in 2006.
Anyway onwards and upwards for both.

Of course we were prepared for the worst, SKY and Eddie Hemmings in particular had been running a campaign all season where the narrative was Wakefield were certainties to lose their licence. Eddie Hemmings never missed an opportunity to tell the world that Wakefield were the obvious candidates to go down, he must have run out of different ways to say it.
By the time the Franchise decision was made it was almost a fact that Trinity were the worst Licence applicants and no other club was in danger.
So of course we were prepared for the worst because whether we actually were the worst seemed to make no difference to SKYs and Eddies desired outcome.
However, the one thing that Andrew Glover had done well was to get our franchise application right!
So none of the prophets of doom and all their drip drip mind bending suggestive brainwashing of the masses made any difference because in the end we weren't the worst applicants and Blake Solly said as much in his interview alongside Glover from Belle Vue.
There was a strong suggestion that 2 or 3 others were weaker than Wakefield and, whether you like it or not, Castleford were one of them!

| In answer to the original question. None.
Next year is arguably bigger than this.

Disagree with you there Jonh.
Whilst ever the people involved with the club have enough spirit and fight, we will always have another "life".
Not good for the ticker though and it would make a pleasant change to be challenging in the top half of the table

I've looked all over for this - does anyone have any proof of this "strong suggestion" ? Who were the 2 or 3 clubs with a weaker application than WTW in 2012 ?
