| Quote: vastman "He's good or he was until his jaw got smashed - if he can get over that h'd be one of the best in SL.
Also check out the guy who smashed him Konrad Hurrell. He is just a beast of a centre. You simply wouldn't dare put Arundal or Lyne on the same pitch as that guy as it would simply be to dangerous - he's playing a different game!'"
I mentioned Hurrell a few seasons ago when he first broke into the Warriors team; he's an absolute monster who plays a very unrefined game - runs and hits like a train and has absolutely no regard for his own safety. I think that's told a bit this year as he's been missing through injury - and he's also prone to some daft errors - but he is a genuinely exciting player to watch.
Because of all that, I can't see him in SL until the NRL machine spits him out at the end of his career and he wants a season or two to top up his pension.

To be honest I was less amazed with him the player than his physicality and as you say total disregard for his own safety. Then compare him to Lyne and Arundel, cliche I know but men against boys comes to mind. Also to be fair on those two I can't think of any current British centre who could stand up to that level of brute force for long.

I couldn't agree more - comparing some SL plodders to some of the freaks they produce in the NRL is a scary prospect.
Another young one to have a look at is Jack De Belin at St George - he's got a fantastic engine and just seems to fling himself at anyone and everyone with no fear whatsoever; have a look at him on a video sharing website embarrassing Sam Thaiday.
I don't know enough about the structures under the NRL, but I would imagine their feeder league has a large part to play in turning these raw boned kids into seasoned players; that, and the multiple millions they have available for conditioning and sports science.

| I know it's something I repeat a lot but don't post any YouTube links. Contravenes the AUP.
Clearly what you do on your own is up to you though

| If we are stocking up on Tupou players we might as well have Daniel as well for the other wing.
It seems only fair.

As long as we don't accidentally sign Tame Tupou we should be OK

| Topou has been top class in his time. When he was getting picked for the rep sides he looked like he could kick on to be one of the best forwards in the game.
Sadly for him injuries took there toll and I don't believe he was ever able to reach his potential and his performances suffered. As others have noted his latest injury was a sickener but a freak accident.
I think his time is up realistically in the NRL and he realises that hence his move to SL. Having said that I don't for one second think he will be anything other than a quality signing. Perfect replacement for Ali, due to his similar style. The significant lowering of week in week out intensity and physicality should prolong his career and hopefully should mean he spends much more time on the pitch.
It is a huge year for Hurrell in the NRL. Without doubt bags of physical ability buy major questions over his attitude and off field behavior. Can't get a start at the Warriors and when he is used it has been more as an impact second row. He has been given some targets to achieve in relation to his fitness in the offseason and is apparently being shopped around, think Wigan could be a likely destination in the future given his relationship with Sam Tomkins and also our requirement for a centre.

| Quote: vastman "Read this, says we've signed him on a two year deal. RLW pretty respectable source.
Apart from that Buii article, which could only ever be written by a no mark **ahem** journalist who's never been brave enough to even step foot on a Rugby League field.
