If I thought re branding would make and difference to our win% ratio or get more folk through the turnstiles I would be all for it. As it wouldn't make as a scrap of difference to either I really cannot see any merit in it.

Exactly. Trinity is a brand name and a bloody good one. A marketing dream. Wildcats is an ill thought out moniker plucked from a hat.

Exactly and the danger is we are sleep walking into loosing it for good.

Even on Sunday at Huddersfield we were announced as The Wakefield Wildcats, no mention of Trinity.

Ditch the stupid Wildcat tag before its too late.

I think some are missing the point here. The older ones are looking at this from the "I remember before we were the wildcats" standpoint and hate the name. If I remember rightky didn't the name come from a competion run in the schools. Where are all the kids, they are supporting either the Leeds "Rhino's" or Cas "Tigers" because A) they have had more sucessful sides and B) they offer a lot more in tems of engaging with the kids. Wakefield have no budget to work with, offer very little on a matchday for the kids, have poor facilities etc etc... If we move to a new stadia, If we can offer a better family experience, then, you would see the benefit of the Wildcats tag. It's all in the marketing. Trinity means nothing to the young ones i'm afraid. There are a few exception to that, but not many.

Belle Vue should be flattened and social housing for the Agbrigg area and perhaps a new area for travelers to live ie an extension to the Doncaster Road site built on it. This will keep Box and Rowley happy. It also concentrates everybody on getting to Newmarket . BV is a distraction.

This isn't the point. The point is that Leeds were Leeds and Cas were Cas. We were Wakefield Trinity. Their names aren't being changed just "enhanced". Ours is being changed slowly but surely. Trinity for me.

May be wrong here, but I can't remember the 'Northstanders ' chanting 'Wildcats' .It is usually 'Trin'.
Many of them will surely have grown up with the 'Wildcats' , but interestingly stick to tradition.

Guess dewsbury trinity will suit everyone then.

As soon as Wakefield trinity leaves Wakefield without a specific return date, it ceases to be Wakefield trinity as far as I am concerned.

I'd rather we go with Wakefield Trinity as the official name, with the "Wildcats" as some kind of juniors membership club.

There are a couple of "songs" including the "Wildcats" name, makes me cringe.
"Trinity" is the name which exudes both history and class, enough said.

The Wildcats thing has always been cheesy, and I would get rid if it was up to me. However I guess they see it as a way of reaching out to younger fans. Atleast the badge has improved the last time it was redesigned.

When my children were smaller, I took them to see High School Musical On Ice. I was wearing a Wildcats coat, our Wildcats, not realising that it was also the name of the team in High School Musical. I got some funny looks that day, and it was pre-Jimmy Savile! That's enough reason for me.

I doubt we will be changing anything because I read that we still have a year left on our Current supplier contract. I thought this was ending this season but apparently not , so I guess we will have to put up with shirts where the sizing could be brought to the attention of the trading standards.

I have grown up with the Wildcats name, and quite frankly I can't stand it.

Wakefield Trinity gives the fans a sense of pride as they know what the 'Trinity' means and the history behind it.

As already stated, use the 'Wildcats' logo as a marketing scheme for the younger fans. Create it as a kids membership with the chance of prizes like meeting players, becoming mascots, signed photos and fun days etc.
