| Wakey til I die wrote…." Forget fitness, forget attitude and although yes they maybe could be better, it is a lack of ability that is the main issue."
Think this is wrong imo….to me the main problem is mental attitude , After half-time we just weren't ready…..T. Smith was still getting into position so Leeds kicked off to him and ended up with ball…from then on we did not touch it for god knows how long. by then we were down and out. Just shambolic errors…..

| I did not think that overall it was that bad today. The worry was the 10mins or so when leeds had the ball and we hardly touched it. This is when this team falls apart. they do not know how to step up the hard work in defense to make sure they are not defending on thier line and that they get more ball in hand.
with ball in hand we made several breaks against the team that is top of league. Had we any pace and composure we could have scored a couple more tries. however we then did fall apart when put under pressure. it has been done to us before and i am sure coaches will be telling their players that.
positives from today - Godinet, Johnstone were good. Washbrook was washbrook. Kirmond did a lot of work in defense. and dare i say it - Tim smith looked more comfortable with the ball in hand (until he got the head injury in the first half) and the obvious interception bit. It was smith who was creating the space and making the holes for the players to run into.
Overall today showed we can play if get the ball in attack, we have a soft underbelly and we have no kicking game.

| Quite enjoyed the 1st half in which we opened Leeds up a few times. Few errors by Hall and one loose pass from Kavanagh really gifted Leeds the initiative.

If I was short sighted I could become a referee!: |

| I hope Brian Smith can bring some of our young lads on so next season whatever league we are in and whatever ground we are playing at we have a nucleus of local products to support instead of a bunch of journeymen and cast-off. In Johnston we have a really exciting winger. Crowther and Annakin always give 100 percent. Hopefully Jowitt will get a chance to establish himself soon and maybe he can bring some others through, perhaps Trout will shine at Hunslet and get a new contact. Centre is the real weak spot in the current team. With Collis seemingly gone, Lyne disappointing and Arundel offering little, Hall not interested and Ryan too slow where are we going to suddenly get 2 decent centres from? Oh for the days when we could attract classy centres like ex England Rugby centre Keith Smith (R. I. P)

| Quote: Theboyem " The scoreline flattered us in the end thanks to Leeds putting the cue on the with ten to go when they were a mile in front but anyone with even half a brain can see through that final margin today.'"
I can just imagine McDermott's half time team talk, forget the fact we are 18 points in front despite them being as good as us, it's not our fault that the touch judge is not fast enough to keep up with play and is 10 yards behind our winger and could not see that his inside pass was obviously forward, and we still had to score the try when their captain Marvel gave us the chance from one of his fast becoming trade mark penalty's just before half time.
So here's the plan for the second half, they don't respect possession so along with the usual penalties they give away we'll see plenty of the ball, lets blitz them for the first 20 minutes and put 30 or more points on the board, then we'll do it the usual Leeds way and ease off, we'll let them score a few tries, nothing too elaborate though just make them look simple and our defence look ordinary. Is that how you see it as well?

As i said anybody with even half a brain could see that the three late tries didn't mask what was wrong yesterday.

| They didn't mask what was wrong. They showed what is good despite the wrong.
It showed we played to the end despite being well beaten
It showed we have players with real skill that can score good tries against top of the league
It showed that if we can fix the many other things we have an entertaining side to watch.

I must be one of the unfortunate ones then, because even with my half a brain I thought that those three late tries were brought about through playing good rugby making a normally very good solid defence look ordinary, as against Leeds "putting the cue on the rack" there was nothing wrong yesterday or the week before, that was not wrong for some time now, the difference is yesterday apart from the first 20 minutes in the second half we competed against the league leaders, but lets not dwell on anything positive when we can highlight the negatives.

| I'm with the half brainers.
I thought all our tries were class - results of good rugby against top opposition. Loved it when Johnstone skinned Hall.

Good teams like Leeds don't put the 'cue on the rack', I think McDermott would have been fuming that Leeds let so many points in so late in the game!
The last ten minutes were very entertaining and showed how we should have been playing when our brain was engaged.
Something to build on I think and I have hope now for the Salford game.

In most games this season, with a noticable couple of exceptions, we've had a spell in the game when we have done ok, but what we don't do is the hard work when the chips are down. When the opposition comes at us we fold like a pack of cards because we don't want to do the mucky stuff like defend the line like our lives depend on it or make those head down up yards 10 metres off our own line. Its alright throwing the ball about in the last 10 minutes when the (previously out of form and injury ravaged) opposition have all but 60 on the board and have the like of Peacock, McGuire, Aiton etc sat on the bench resting for their match on thursday. But its all rather pointless if the game has long gone, although it seems enough to placate some. The attitude has to change more than anything else. You have to earn the right to do the fancy play on the back of sheer hard work, something we have been reluctant to do. If we change that then we have a chance. If we don't forget it.

Below is taken from the match report in the Yorkshire Post. Don't get me wrong the tries we scored were good ones and it was good to see that we didn't just go through the motions but lets not pretend Leeds were still going full on at that point.
[iWith Thursday’s game against Castleford Tigers in mind, coach Brian McDermott took the opportunity to give some of his key men, including Sinfield, Jamie Peacock, Stevie Ward, Paul Aiton and McGuire, a breather in the late stages, as well as introducing 18-year-old half-back Jordan Lilley for his Super League debut.
Wakefield, to their credit, took advantage of Leeds’s reshuffle to add three tries in the final 10 minutes. Godinet created the first two for Danny Kirmond and Nick Scruton, before his run led to Johnstone going over. The Samoan also kicked two conversions.[/i

I'm not sure what your point is here, We've got the best team in the league against the worst with all sorts of well documented on field problems, yet you feel the need to highlight their injury ravaged team with only Moon and Hardaker guaranteed automatic selection, and the reserves would get into quite a few SL teams, yet fail to mention our injury list which is far greater than theirs, Iv'e read some rubbish on here in my time but your bit there where you have to earn the right to do the fancy stuff is up there with the best, I'm not going to keep repeating meself but for the last time apart from the first 20 minutes in the second half we put up a very credible performance given the opposition, and if you can't take any positives from yesterday in your quest for perfection, perhaps you might benefit from moving on to watch a team that can give you that satisfaction, good luck with it.
