Quote: frogcat "well said , that man. if they are not up for the fight, bugger off home and stop moaning. look at the super league clubs that are supposed to be in good form against championship opposition today. Catalans kept Featherstone out by 1 score. Widnes kept Dewsbury out by 1 score. The last time Leigh lost was against Leeds. 25 games unbeaten. They are not numpties, came out in the 2nd half threw a few handbags, disrupted our game, that's when the game turned and I would have a good bet that that is what was talked about in Leighs dressing room at half time. We are not Widnes or Catalans. We are well down on confidence. We should have never let them come back but I won't be commiting suicide over it'"
Agree with the majority of that post, with the exception of "Leigh threw a few handbags".
When watching it back, it is plain as day that Kirmond threw 2 or 3 punches in the tackle & he was even useless at that, that is what caused the fracas.
Anyway, I haven't come on here to gloat about Leigh or deride Wakefield, just a message to reiterate what I posted earlier in the week.
The Championship is a good comp, it has good, strong Clubs & teams with great fans. It has been said in several quarters that the rugby is in some ways more exciting than in many SL matches where it is all 4/5 drives & a kick.
If the Wildcats do end up relegated, all is not lost. Teams & clubs & even fan bases can be rebuilt. In the case of Leigh we had no money, bucket collections for players because they weren't getting paid, 3rd bottom & saved from relegation at the final hour.
Even in those darker days, we still had the fans, more fans than any other Club & when the board wised up & changed the team improved, the club improved.
Has the Championship killed Leigh, Bradford, Halifax, Fev & Sheff Eagles ?
Never.
So, heads up Wakey fans, you live to fight another day & if that fight is in the Championship, so be it, it ain't the pit of despair painted by some.
Best of luck to you all (Genuinely) with all your on & off field issues, but.should the worst come to the worst & you are relegated to the Championship then -
Come on in, the rugby's lovely.
