| Quote: Mick Amos 9 WTW "Scarlett, I always have the courage to state what I feel mate. I am voting Antony who is a Tory. I was born and raised in a council house, under performing school and have watched politics over the years. I don't vote labour because my Grandfather did, or any other family members.
Out of the councillors in Wakefield, the ones who impressed me the most were Conservative. Over the years however, Tories have got my back up and some of their MPs I wouldn't pay in washers.
The thing that grates me about Labour is their 'run with the hares, run with the hounds ethos'. Who are they? Who do they represent? I will no doubt vote a mixture of Labour and Tory and maybe even UKIP, over the next so many years. One thing for certain, across all the parties I think we all agree on, is that a little more integrity and less of passing the buck mentality. That is for them all.
I may get this vote wrong! Who knows..
Again, good luck whoever you vote!!'"
The running with the hares, hunting with the hounds goes for all of the politicians !
NONE of them have the balls (pun intended) to say what they will do when we have a hung parliament , which either makes them blind (ostrich with head in sand) or deceitful, which is why many people don't bother to vote.
Unless all of the polls have this one wrong, there wont be an overall majority today and the next couple of weeks will see some "horse trading" which will make your blood curdle.
Tories/Ukip Labour/SNP Lib dems/Anyone and quite possibly another election within 6 months.
This particular campaign has been the worst in my life time and all of the main parties are guilty of mis-leading the general public.
As far as the ground situation is concerned, we certainly need a more helpful council but, that may not happen today

| It's hard not to make generalisations when there is so much information knocking around. But I've met Andrea Jenkyns (Tory parliamentary candidate for Outwood & Morley) and her motivation for doing this is the loss of her dad, in Pinderfields, to MRSA. She is driven to fight for the NHS, to protect it and preserve it. But she's Tory, so how does that work?
This is a very big and very complicated puzzle!

| Since 1981 in business I can say that we struggle when Labour are in power and do well when Tories are in power. How can anyone forget the last mess from the same people who now want to get involved with the economy. I got sick of hearing the word "worker" during this campaign. I am an MD and work my guts out to make ends meet and pay wages every month. I cannot think of one Socialist economy I would point out as a shining light of the system.
I am a compulsive social volunteer and have just had £1k to my local rugby league club and £1k for my conservation group from the local Tory councillor, he cared.
I am from council house stock, born on Lupset and raised on Kettlethorpe in a Labour household and today, never having voted for Labour or Conservative, voted Tory for the first time. The whole of Wakefield needs a shake up, every aspect is a mess. The sporting infrastructure of the city is not good enough. Time for change for mine.

| Do people know that there are 2 elections on today?
Local council elections and parliamentary elections, if you want to give Box a bloody nose 15 of labours 52 seats on the council are up for grabs, that would seriously reduce his majority if they could be switch, as for the national vote, I do believe a labour government would have more of a clout with a labour council so maybe some tactical voting needs to take place, personally I like Mary Creagh she has done quite a bit of work in the district and not just in the last 5 weeks, thankfully Balls and his Misses are not standing in my constituency and if they were I'd have a bit of a dilemma, the local Tory councillors have done a lot for our community and especially in supporting our local amateur rugby club, so for me the decision is simple, Tory for council and labour for national.
But the beauty of the country we live in means everyone has their own choice, but please make it for the right reasons and whatever you do make sure you vote, people have made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure we all have that right

| Labour all the way. The NHS, education and defence whould be sacrosacnt in not being touched. I know people who work (or until made redundant recently worked) in all 3 and they all have been brought to their knees by this government. Now they want to cut child benefit for everybody. Bankers bonuses are back up at ridiculous amounts though so thats ok. Vote conservative and kill Wakefield and other town and cities like it off for good.

There's not much left to kill in Wakefield thanks to the stranglehold of one party for years.

You are wasting your time.
The stadium issue is clouding a lot of people's judgement and causing them to focus only on the negatives.

| All good debate.
Just worth repeating what others are saying.
General election and council local elections are different.
Box is a Councillor not an MP. You could in theory vote the opposite way in each election as they do different jobs.

I've no doubt she's absolutely genuine and has honest intentions but she'll get swallowed up by Tory ideology and if she doesn't do as the Chief Whip tells her she'll have a short politicians career.

| A conservative government have already set out their plans for the cuts that are coming and they are going to be much worse than we have seen already. George Osbourne has missed his target to clear the deficit by a mile, he got his sums wrong. Now he is in a rush to save face and for the next two years under the conservatives then it will be very painful. The NHS, education, benefits, etc have already been mentioned on here and all would be in serious danger but concentrating on the stadium issue, where is the funding coming from? We know the developer is supposed to be funding the majority but if there was any hope of the council serving up that £2 million which is needed under the s106 will have gone as their income will be slashed. Other areas of funding that I imagine have been earmarked for the other community facilities at Newmarket will be removed as they will be deemed non essential and directed elsewhere. The two year plan will cause growth to stall as people wait for the end of austerity before spending their money (if they have any to spend), meaning businesses will suffer, new builds won't happen and the trigger point never reached. And given his past record the likehood is that Osbourne will miss his targets again and the cuts will go on longer prolonging the misery.
Labour plan to cut more slowly, easing the pressure on councils and other services who are already stretched to breaking point. It's my opinion that a Labour lead government with potentially three front bench Wakefield MP's and a Leeds based S.O.S. who has a good working relationship with the probable chancellor would hold much more influence over Box than a conservative one and with much less by the way of cuts something good might yet come of this. If we wake up tomorrow with the conservatives back in control then I think we can finally kiss Newmarket goodnight.

| Yes the NHS, education child benefits etc should be untouchable but are people forgetting the amount of debt the precious government (Labour) racked up? There have to be some cuts somewhere in the system to clean up the mess Labour made in their 13 years. Also I have seen some people (not specifaclly on here) saying they are voting Labour because they are working mans part, well IMO they haven't been a working mans party for several years now.
