Think that horse has bolted, Box and his cronies won't give a damn about that they are getting re-elected with our without our support and then have five years to sit on it. And Yorkcourt have proved they have no shame.
Baseball bat around the kneecaps is probably the only course of action left for them. The biggest meeting in the clubs meeting malarly will be a whip round for some wood to swing and some balaclavas.

Not quite as simple as that. Council elections are staged over a 4 year period as far as I recall. So although it's to late to pressure Box and co this time around there is ample time to do it over the next 18 month.
Some of the Wakefield wards are held by very small majorities with a very small voter turn out - we make this an issue it may affect that vote - especially if we target councillors who don't back us by putting up our own candidates which is possible - single issue groups have done this with some success in the past - I believe it worked in Featherstone regarding the swimming pool.

It's very possible, my self and another SWAG member had a meeting a few years back with the Featherstone people and it's fairly straight forward. I think some of them still are Independent Councillors (not sure).
I know Trinity is not the force it once was but I reckon if a swimming pool can do it a one great RL Team has a chance.
With the benefit of hindsight we would have been better off not backing off but actually getting TRB and IA up for election (if willing) at SWAG's peak a few years back where they could have been a much bigger thorn in the Councils side.
It's not to late but I think where I possibly differ with TRB/IA though I have not had chance to talk yet is that I really want us to get very aggressive from now on with no cosy cease fires etc - obviously I'm saying this without knowing the full story yet so please accept it is a bit speculative for now.

Yes it is four year terms but it hasn't worked over the last 18 months, why would the next be any different? It's water off a ducks back for Box, in fact he thrives on it and loves the confrontation. It steels his resolve and he loves nothing more than driving his opponents into the ground and then effectively dancing on their graves. He is the most stubborn person I have ever met. As you say though it is too late to do much about it for this election, hopefully he will retire before the next.
I can't see how Wakefield have the supporter base these days to make any real difference via a protest vote. Most don't bother voting anyway so even if it tempts a few more out it would be nothing like the full supporter base. And what are we fighting for, Newmarket or a revamped Belle Vue? Plenty of our fans don't think Newmarket is right for the club and this would impact on support, whilst others think we need a change. For instance I could never support a single issue candidate if ultimately I didn't fully agree with the cause! Unlike Featherstone most of our meagre support is spread over such a large area in Wakefield that it would make zero difference to the vote, a few candidates picking up a couple of hundred votes in various wards will achieve nothing other than derision in the council chambers, potentionally damaging the campaign beyond redemption. Although in any case come the next round of elections i doubt the Newmarket option will still be there and the Belle Vue situation may well have changed seeing a it is costing the club an arm and a leg. Castleford's Five Towns development is also a very large fly in the ointment, it will in all likelihood get the ok from central government after the election and all of a sudden there is somewhere else in the area for Wakefield to rent.
Again, like you, I don't know the full ins and outs so it is difficult to say exactly what the lay of the land is, especially from the other end of the country these days, but given my knowledge of the councillors that we are dealing with then protests are likely to be futile at this stage. Getting round the table and thrashing out a deal would be the ideal outcome but that looks like it has been tried until blue in the face and has hit a brick wall. Yorkcourt could be a target but they don't seem like they are willing to shift and they should be hung, drawn and quartered for their actions. The best option is possibly a judicial review and/or legal action. The problem here is you have to be VERY confident of a positive result otherwise it could be very expensive. For those that have been on the inside of this it is an extremely tough call as it is probably last chance saloon time. I have my fingers crossed from afar and will be following with interest.

As a note on this I saw the Newcold development for the first time this easter whilst up visiting family. I can see why you are upset, it is monsterous. Especially given it is currently only half the size it is going to be.

I don't honestly care what a Cas troll thinks to be honest.
We will do what we have to do, and if it works it works if not it doesn't but at least we tried - it's a bit like we ask from our team

Classy guy aren't you. And a rather stupid one who likes to think he is an expert on everything when in reality you no precious little about anything. Just a sad little unfulfilled bully boy who tries to shout the loudest, a bit Peter Box-esque actually. The difference being Box is quite intelligent to back it up. No I am not him, and neither am I a Cas 'troll', what I am is someone with knowledge on how the inner working of local government works, oh and I was a Trinity season ticket holder for many years. Sadly people like you don't like to accept that others might know better than you, which says plenty about you. You do just as much damage for the cause as those you aim to rise up against by dividing the support. Some could say it is indeed you who is the double agent.
I shouldn't rise to the bait but someone has to show everyone the error of your ways. I'm no doubt you will be back spouting some nonsense, I don't really care, you regularly show yourself up so once more will just amuse me further. As for the Newcold building, before you come on jawing off i'd check the plans if I were you.
So as you say...

| Anyway apologies to everyone else, I don't take kindly to being described as Peter Box, a man i cannot tolerate. The thread shouldn't be de-railed it is too important for that so I will once again leave it be. Good luck, really do hope it works out whichever way you choose to play it.

| I can't understand if proved that Yorkcourt have shafted us legally or morally, that the YEP, Wakey express etc haven't been on it like a ton of bricks. I't make a good story from whichever angle they came from.

Oh give up with the faux angers, you're so transparent - you've trolled on this issue from the start continually trying to undermine those who at least try. It's so easy to be negative and shoot everything down it's the british way.
Why leave, why not just contribute a positive - you won't be held to account if it's a non starter. Or start another thread just for those who want to call it a day and have a good moan amongst yourselves.

You'd think so, but local papers seem to pander to business and are rarely interested in real stories. Never been impressed by Sadler I'll say no more.
